It was either go with a sophomore or go with a freshman. Had he gone with a sophomore then likely at least one of the two frosh transfer, if not both. Both frosh were recruited by this staff vs Graham and Yates. Clearly the coaches felt there was way more upside with Sims and were willing to...
I’ll say we have no established deep threat at the moment. But there are high expectations on guys like Nate McCollum, Jamal Haynes, and Malik Rutherford to fill that hole in our game. I’m bummed AB decided to leave but I’m excited to see what these kids can do. Nate was beginning to get more...
Who said anything about full support? If they wanted to transfer I would not publicly bash them. I am not happy that AB is transferring. But I am also mature enough not to need to bad mouth him about it.
I'm with you that it's OK to say that a transfer hurts. AB was a valued member of the team and we will absolutely miss him. We have some guys who will need to step in to give us that dimension quicker than we probably would have liked.
I think people are just going to have to get used to this...
@TheTechGuy I know you weren't talking to me but I responded to a similar question you asked with some information to support my statement here: https://gtswarm.com/threads/national-signing-day-coverage.22780/post-770125. I did not include the guys we are getting who have less than 4 years of...
I look at the 6 transfers (If Cochran is coming, if not then it's 5 and the last point below only applies to White) in two groups.
4 kids who come in with 4 years of eligibility... I feel like some of this is unique to this year but might become something we look at in other years where we need...
There should be no doubt that CPJ and Mike Leach are offensive geniuses. I think both of them could have run any offense they wanted and came to the conclusion that they gained a significant advantage by using the offenses they chose. Of course I absolutely love watching a good option running...
Y'all now I'm going to have nightmares about that game all over again :ROFLMAO: . Was also in the stands and the switch the fast break offense for Ward won him the Heisman (he deserved it, I just mean he and it fit like a glove).
The four young transfer:
I agree that they will probably need additional time before they may make an impact. Sounds a lot like the HS seniors coming in. The difference being that those kids have a year or two of conditioning and college coaching. I'm not suggesting those guys are world...
@Coloradojacket thank you for getting this started and sharing some fantastic info. This is very entertaining and educational. Really appreciate this!!!
If you use Chrome browser try doing what worked for me... right click on the link and select "Open Link in Incognito Window." Or if you're in Firefox there's probably something similar to open it in a Private Browser which would accomplish the same thing. Hope that does the trick. For those...
Cool trivia questions!
Note: the correct spelling is Jimy Lincoln.
5) Didn't someone paint tiger paws on the outside wall of Bobby Dodd Stadium and/or on the road one year? I want to say it was in the 1980s but I could be making that up in my head.
I'm pretty sure that if we're still taking him that we really need him this year, too.
However, your point about potential for driving out some of the younger guys is an excellent and insightful one that I hadn't considered before. I need to add that into my equation from now on.
And for him the decision may have been to be a bench warmer as a LB or a bench warmer as a QB. Maybe he even feels that he could get into the mix as the 3rd string QB and maybe give Yates a run for his money as the backup. Who knows. And it could just be him feeling like he isn't enjoying...
