Toughest ACC non-conference schedule: GT of course

The SEC has the most players in the NFL, about 20% of the League. The ACC is about 12%.

Let's just do a quick comparison. In the past 30 days, the ACC has aired commercials 22 times and earned an airing rank of #2,552. In the same period, the SEC ran 188 commercials with an airing rank of #,1,674. Ironically, the headcount is almost the same (30 vs. 26) The SEC controls its...

Bowl games are dying. With the expanded playoffs and players wanting to sit out, bowls are going to be under increasing pressure. Many won't survive. Already, ESPN owns some and uses them purely as programming content.

Yes. Ole Miss was famous for it and Alabama as well. But, the SEC was also noted for much more physical play ... Alabama, for example, plays LSU, Auburn, UGA, Tennessee and Texas A&M. Not exactly cupcakes. The ACC is mostly comprised of more average teams. Playing even weaker teams isn't...

The problem for the ACC is that they have only 3 teams in the Preseason Rankings. The SEC has 8 and the B1G has 5. There just isn't much oxygen for the ACC, media-wise.

What did I say? "They (the NFL) draft based on talent ... " They do not draft based on the team's won/loss record. If you have any references that suggest they do, I'd be interested to read them. I'm not really sure what you are arguing.

Talent that isn’t tested is difficult to evaluate. It’s fine if you’re more into having a weak schedule but to me, that only sustains the impression that GT is irrelevant. Even more so when you lose to a patsy like the Citadel. Fortunately, it’s ADJB’s decision…

Toughest ACC non-conference schedule: GT of course

Good point. Here’s a breakdown of NFL draft picks by conference. You can’t recruit great players and offer them a possible path to the League if you don’t play those who do. For all the discussion of OOC only, the ACC is weak in terms of talent. And with the portal, you can’t develop it. You...

Toughest ACC non-conference schedule: GT of course

Doesn’t it depend on your strategy? Unless ADJB has changed it, the goal for GT Football is to create a path to the League for those who want that. How many were drafted last year? One? The NFL doesn’t draft based on wins. They draft based on talent and matchups. They draft based on how well...

I encourage you to bone up on “success” via the NCAA. It’s really simple. Play and beat ranked teams. And have a strong travel contingent for post season. Nobody gives a f*$k beating Alcorn State.

It’s a double edged sword. Johnny Vaught built Ole Miss into a paper Tiger scheduling cupcakes. Notre Dame built a national brand playing any comer, nationwide. Which one would you rather be?

Correct me if I’m wrong, but the ACC is the chards left of the Southern Conference after a bunch of teams split to form the SEC. Perhaps the ACC should rebrand?

Jack Swarbrick, Notre Dame’s AD is retiring and will be replaced by Pete Bevacqua, chairman of NBC Sports. I'm sure he will have a plan in place to negotiate a media deal. But ... he has no other experience as an AD. Zero.

I didn't say it didn't. What I said was that the ACC did not throw Tech a lifeline as if we were the only one to gain a benefit. The ACC BENEFITTED financially by adding Tech and it made sense to do so. Especially considering that it had lost South Carolina and schools in those days relied more...

NIL, Transfers, and Stratospheric Salaries. What Is the Future of GT Football and College Football in General?

Interesting. In Japan, it used to be that companies sponsored the sports teams directly ... so it's the Aisin Argonauts vs. the Denso Dynamo. We might as well go there ... a league with the GT/Hyundai Yellow Jackets, and simply pay the 18-22 year old athletes directly and do away with all of...

Tech joining the ACC wasn't a lifeline for Tech. Tech was already in the Metro, but joining did give it more stability. Still, it isn't as if the ACC felt sorry for the Jackets. The ACC played in mostly small stadiums and the revenue model THEN was to split gate revenue and the occasional...
