Agreed. Said the same thing last year too. Even when winning last year, felt like games were closer than they needed to be because of the lack of offensive diversity (and the lack of tempo - never understood why we walked the ball up the floor so much). I love the point series stuff, and the...
based on this, it looks like dribble-drive motion (DDM). the 5-man in the dunker spot is consistently "relocating" to the weakside block on drives down the "drag zone" (the edge of the lane). we ran it last year in nov/dec and abandoned it almost entirely in ACC play. now it appears to be back.
not a fan of horns sets (thousands of them) in general. not a fan of it for our roster either. same issue presents itself. 5-man playing zone defense in the paint. i'm a bit more friendly toward horns sets/actions that flow (seamlessly) into continuity offenses. i've never seen pastner run...
a lot of posts over the last month pinning hopes for offensive improvement on bubba. that was not anywhere near the narrative offseason/preseason. i dont recall anyone suggesting our offensive production would include bubba as a primary/secondary scoring threat. seems like wishful thinking to...
kyle deserves credit for energy too. he had some sloppy play and mistakes for sure, but he played with good energy.
separately, Q4 cjp sitting on the scorers table silently with arms crossed.
its been said in a variety of ways for weeks now, but i want to say it in a slightly new way... what this team is lacking is sophomore-year miles and deebo. next year we will be saying "if only we had this miles and this deebo with ush and devoe last year." i understand the calls for a scoring...
you could be entirely correct about the 3-man middle game. as i said in the other post, idk. it starts with the same look (PG feeding the 5 at the elbow) but maybe thats just to disguise it a bit? i beleive i have seen a few times when it broke down and mike could not get what he wanted out of...
1. i was surprised by how much pastner was calling stuff for deivon. i know a lot of swarmers here love him because of his electric atheticism - i do too - but imo that doesnt necessarily mean he is a "go to" yet. it looked to me like pastner was really confident/comfortable with calling stuff...
A too-long analysis of some nitty gritty Xs/Os for our offense this year (so far)... for the coaches and X/O nerds to chime in on with additional details or for the causal fans who might be interested...
Last year was great and beautiful execution of 5-out Princeton continuity, but too vanilla...
This.
And also Deebo should be setting the backscreen on spain PnR (we FINALLY started running this in the last 2 games... only a couple times, but damn it is loaded with potential for us and fits what we already do with roll/replace. Mike attacking off the high ball screen, 5-man rolling...
I dont follow Cuse closely (barely at all really) so perhaps @CuseJacket can chime in with more details... Boeheim certainly changes the focus and rotations of the zone against matchups, including intentionally allowing/funneling the ball to go to the nail vs some teams/players. I've seen...
pastner has some great nuggets in this video. well worth the watch/listen. its almost must watch really.
so many truths about cbb, GT asst coaches, himself, specific GT players, and the "fine line" between getting fired vs a contract extension.
someone pointed this out in previous games... the closing lineup several times has been starters but with deebo taking khalids spot. that happened again tonight.
also, a chunk of Q4 we had an intriguing lineup i have not seen before. we used it when we got the lead. i wanna say it was roughly...
mike entered the game at the 10 min mark. i believe we were down 20-10. i dont think he subbed out the rest of the game. so we were +12 with mike.
mike and kyle 10/14 FTs. rest of team 2/10.
