He has the type of experience we need. A little concerned about not coaching in an academic environment. He is much better than the two candidates this board seems to be pushing for.

I am a long time season ticket holder lol. I have 6 tickets. Tech fan all my life. I have a long enough memory to remember the last time we made the hot coach hire from a smaller program. It was a disaster. I was also there when we hired the inexperienced guy who learned how to coach here and...
We did with a Bill Lewis. Been there and sat through it. Sat thorough a Bill Curry learning how to be a head coach too. Not interested in repeating either of those.

You must be one of those guys whose main concern was CPJ was not good with the press.
Leach is so bad the big money Texas Tech guys are trying to bring him back.

A bunch of people on the boards don’t won’t Ken. They are vocal. Just looking at one of the topics in here most people on this board don’t even go to one game a year. Not sure if that qualifies you as much as a large donor who bleeds gold and hasn’t missed a game in 20 years.
Most equate Ken...
Just for reference how old are you and are you a season ticket holder?
You are one among many is who is hot young coach bandwagon. It’s not bad or good, we all have our opinion.
I will buy my tickets and be at the game regardless of who Tstan chooses.

They are dumb because they don’t won’t hire the hot new guy. I don’t know your experience with Tech but we have been there before with Lewis. It was a dark moment in Tech football history. Also ruined his career. I can remember the hire, great recruiter and presented himself very well. People...
Really disappointing reading this thread. I get it for the young families with weekend athletic obligations.
Some of the most vocal on here about a coaching hire never go to games.

I also think CAM has the network to assemble a very good coaching staff.
Imho, if we are going to stay the current course he is the best candidate. I think he could get Cook to add some variety to the offense that we desperately need. Defensively he is sound and we would be better.
This is a...
I personally think both those guys will struggle mightily at Tech. I don’t why everyone keeps ignoring a some of facts about thses two candidates.
1. Only worked at one school that in no way is comparable to Tech in our restrictions.
2. Followed their mentor who really built the offense or...
I am not sure if the number but I think is 90% of the top 50 in Georgia don’t qualify for Tech. We cannot be successful only recruiting the southeast.

Do you think GOL was a great recruiter. We had several top 25 classes while he was here. What about Ralph? Could you imagine either one of those guys in your living room in South Georgia? It’s not about the head coach. It’s about the staff.

You get it. Regardless of who the coach is we need to dramatically expand our recruiting staff and capabilities and recruit nationwide. Our model should be Stanford. If you are interested in STEM major and you are an athlete Tech should be the first choice you think about. Marketing is also key...
We were never on probation because anything that the staff or alumni did. It was all about our academic department that advised the athletes misinterpreting a rule.
The key statement you made was GOL had a great staff. This is the key vs any personality or recruiting ability of one individual...
We need strong recruiters in the staff and we need a much larger recruiting staff. Those that think the head coach will resolve any recruiting issues are not looking the entire issue. Clemson’s recruiting staff is bigger than our entire staff.

No he wouldn’t because he wouldn’t be able to work with donors and get major dollars flowing. But because he is a Tech grad that is highly thought of and a proven offensive coach at the highest level, the money will flow.

There is a lot of big money behind Ken. He would not be a terrible hire like most say on here. What if hired Tmartin as his OC? Then what would you say.
I think Ken would make a great coach during the time we are trying to raise major dollars and improve our program. He is the only guy on the...
