It's probably (realistically) more than a five year issue to work out. I want to give this year's seniors an extra year but then you basically have to do it for everyone on the roster. Plus you need to allocate extra scholarships for the incoming freshman. You'll have to gradually work that down...

I agree. Pausing for a month (or whatever) to figure out what's going on makes sense. Cancelling this far out doesn't.

I agree on principle, and if this was deeper in his tenure I would be 100% with you. However, let me ask you this - would you feel better if we beat Gardner, UCF, Duke, and Pitt or Gardner, ND, Miami, georgie? The record is exactly the same, but you're beating teams that have out-recruited you...

I agree we are better than most, and I certainly would be shocked if we did what FSU or Arkansas did, barring total chaos. I'm just saying it's a new era, no way CGC works that entire 7 year contract without some progress year to year. FWIW, progress to me isn't totally on the record itself...

I get what you're saying, I meant that if you go off one year then Satterfield is clearly the winner. It's a marathon not a sprint though. Well, maybe a 5K. ;)

I agree with the gist of what you have here. Based on one year, we would all look around and think that we should've hired Satterfield instead (Lolville was picked by everyone to be worse than us). HOWEVER, we are (hopefully) building to something much bigger and better and one year does not...

The last 'Tennessee Titans' in CFB was in 1990... I don't like the NFL, but I agree with you that if there aren't structural changes then it's going to devolve into a 5-8 team rush for the playoffs every year. Even LSU isn't that big of a surprise in terms of being good, they always recruit...

That was strictly true a long time ago. Today they need to do BOTH. There's only one Saban that can get away with not promoting his school, and even he talks about the 'greatness of Bama'. Every other big time coach does it too.
