  1. Film Study -Offense vs Wofford

I was hoping we'd get one of the excellent Boomer analyses, and presto! It appeared. And my anxious question on the offense was answered, and in a worry-relieving way. I don't think anyone would disagree when I say that when the B back is getting five yards or more, everything else works...
  2. UGH!!!

It made me uneasy too. But it is a long time until then, as others have said. Just based on what I saw Saturday, we might be capable of trading scores with them and finally winning a close one. You never know how a GT-UGA game will go based on what has happened before.
  3. The good, the bad, and the ugly...

Is Harrel Neal's backup? Like 33, Nealy's play was the biggest concern I had. Time and time again he stood like a statue and let their monster lineman tie him up. Another time he took a bad angle on their quarterback and waved as he went past. That after seeing all day how fast the guy was.
  4. Wofford as an affirmation of the TO

Coming off the bus, our guys looked much bigger and more athletic. Our D knows the TO. But with a fast quarterback who can run the option, well coached players who know their assignments, and a good offensive play caller, they gave us fits. As was said when we first hired PJ, we have a better...
  5. Initial Impressions

Like the poster on another thread, not smart to read too much into an opening game. My biggest positive by far is that we finally have an offense which can both run and pass. We finally have a big play threat at quarterback, something we haven't had since PJ came here. Some not so good...
  6. CPJ notes from Wednesday

There are probably multiple reasons for putting Days at B back, but I wonder if one big one isn't his blocking on pass plays. Laskey and Sims both whiffed a lot when we might have had time to throw if they could have at least slowed someone up.
  7. CPJ notes from Wednesday

jwsavhGT, one of the many, many nice things about this site is the mods and other posters NEVER make you feel like an idiot if you don't know something. I have a great track record of ignorance and misunderstanding, so that goes a long way for me.
  8. Rocket Toss Observation

I kinda agree, but more than the rocket toss, the pay which used to get yardage at least some of the time was the wide pitch to the A back. As the OP says, in recent years our guy never turns the corner. More often than not there isn't just one defender but several. Some time ago someone said...
  9. Paul Johnson Radio Show - Tonight

Eric and others have summarized about all I can remember. I'll try to add a few things. Coach wants to play the first and second offensive lines as units Saturday rather than subbing here and there...8-9 true freshmen will play this year....Q: Isn't JT short? A: Well, he's always been short...
  10. Wofford Game Notes

I see Freeman is starting again, according to the depth chart. It would seem the switch of Chungong was a coaching ploy to keep the competition keen. Or maybe it's day-to-day close between the two. That wouldn't be a bad situation.
  11. Injury update

Eric, in another AJC article Ken says that PJ says that Chungong has overtaken Freemen for first string DE. Do you think that Roderick has taken a big step up or has Freemen fallen off a little?
  12. Why I'm Psyched on 2014 Despite Flaws on Paper

Me too, Inside! There are a lot of reasons, but to name one, it comes down to having a quarterback who has the potential to run our offense fast. We have had some good quarterbacks, but no one yet has run it at the speed it needs to be totally effective. The fact that the guy can throw and...
  13. Camp Confidential - 8/9

I think it would do wonders if we were to play-action on third and inches once in a while. Even the more if we made it work for a big gain. But just showing it would cause some defensive sphincters to tighten.
  14. Camp Confidential - 8/9

I sure hope this is the case. JT is a great fit for the role. Given our pass blocking on straight drop backs, this makes so much sense.
  15. Unofficial Practice 9 Notes - Very Short on info...

Inside, I had forgotten about Laskey's blocking last year on passing plays. It seemed like both him and Sims were often in the key role to give a quarterback a second or two more to throw, and they both often blew it.
  16. Unofficial Practice 9 Notes - Very Short on info...

Typically the A backs go in and out on every play. Your favorite needs to be in the top four at least, but really, starting at A back isn't that big deal. I always liked Tony's story, so I'm glad he's making his move. Receiving is sounding better and better these days. I've read here...
  17. Practice #7 (8/6)

ATL1, I agree. The G-C-G combination should be extremely potent whether Devine is in or Braun. CPJ said the other day something like "our offensive line has less experience, but they are bigger and more athletic."
