One ACC team in the ranked top 10. Neither Duke nor UNC ranked - at all- in the third week of January.
Plus, Louisville has become one of the worst teams in the nation.
In other words, it is a down year for the ACC. Maybe one of its worst in recent memory.
And Tech is at the bottom of it.
If...
Many years ago, there was a function for press and the state's college football coaches. I happened to be standing next to PJ for a few minutes. We look over at the horde descending on Richt.
PJ looks at me and goes, "you don't think there's a (bleeping) bias in this state?"
Me: "Never said...
Key has followed PJ on Twitter for years. So has Choice, even though I heard Choice one night very early on in his Tech coaching tenure say some disparaging things about the PJ program. Nothing major.
You did have Big 8 (or 12) champ in the Orange, plus the SEC in the Sugar and Pac 12 v Big 14 in the Rose. But to your point, yes, the other bowls had no tie-ins to conferences by and large.
It really should have been GT vs. Colorado in the Orange. Let ND play Nebraska in the Citrus.
Hell, I...
Biggest change?
New strength and conditioning staff.
That was overdue.
Not overly wild about anything else at this point. Recruiting was ... ok. Could have been worse. But wasn't that great, either - and a coaching upheaval can't be an excuse. We pretty much cashed out the head bozo and the OC...
most of the color commentary and sideline reporting is trite and repetitive. I'm usually glad I don't get to hear it when I'm at the game.
Besides, it's more fun to sneak liquor into the game and enjoy it with your Coke than to crack open a bottle at home.
Maybe that's one reason we're looking for a new receivers coach.
I think Rutherford could step into McCollum's role. And there's still the Haynes kid from Grayson at the slot.
Now, there is no telling if they will be as good or productive as McCollum. But we are not without potential at the...
There was a huge rift among the Maryland people on leaving the ACC for the Big 10. They were very split and tensions were very high.
And how has that moved worked out for them?
On blue pants ... when PJ got back to Statesboro as head coach, the players asked for two things.
They wanted their names on the backs of the jerseys. And they wanted blue pants.
they got em. But Paul made em limit the blue pants for big games, such as rivalry games.
So there were a handful of...
"Dewberry back to pass. .. he's got time ... pressure!"
Oh, Al was great. Better than drunk Munson. You never knew what the score was, what the down and distance was with that decrepit misanthrope.
Who we really miss ....
Kim King.
So what worked?
From my POV, none of it. Not the 404, not the ATL, none of it.
Did it help recruiting? Well, the best class was 2020. And of those 22-23 guys, only about half are left two years later.
So ... no.
Send it all packing.
