TX and OK paid $50M each to leave 1 year early.
The full amount likely would have been a little more, but basically the B12 was willing to take the $100M knowing it already had new teams coming in. Part of the agreement with the new schools that joined the B12 was that the reamining schools...
I wouldn't be surprised to see this pick up pace until college athletics comes to some new equilibrium.
Right now you basically have a sport where almost no rules are enforceable.
I think this Scott Van Pelt opinion piece is pretty accurate right now...
Harbaugh waiting until now to take an NFL job is actually a big help to Michigan. Most schools have already started Spring Semester and are pass add/drop dates so players wouldn't be able to transfer until the Summer Semester.
It seems likely that they will hire Moore which would allow them to...
I agree with most of what has been said other than that I expect Terry to be back.
This quote seems to sum up his thoughts.
“I wanted to be able to play an entire season for my last year,” Terry said in a release. “It also allows me to practice and learn under coach (Damon) Stoudamire and his...
I would say the B12 is more stable right now, partially because their new Commissioner has done a great job of getting all their members to understand what they are and getting them all on the same page.
The B12 is sort of the leftovers conference in many ways - they don't really have any...
I think ACC would like one of 2 things.
Either start working to make the conference better or live up to the contract you signed and pay to leave.
If FSU actually performs the way it runs its mouth it would start earning close to what the SEC and B1G payouts are with the new incentive structure.
I don't see the ACC as a dead conference walking.
I don't see it as a Top 2 conference now or in the future. It hasn't been that for a decade and the way the college environment changed it was unlikely to ever be that.
ACC is likely to survive partially due to ND. Say the worst scenario for the...
I think the odds of ESPN not exercising the option is extremely small.
ACC provides more content to ESPN than any other conference. If they were to not exercise the option they would have to find some way to fill all that content. Having the SEC and a partial piece of the B12 will not be enough.
All this is ACC Basically signaling that they plan to fight hard legally against FSU and not just give in to what they want.
I don't have a big issue with ACC attempting to get a judge to say that FSU should not have any say in the administration of ACC matters. It is clear they are not acting...
I did see some rumors that Saban will stay in the building long enough to make sure that Kiffin isn't the hire.
Take that for what rumors are worth.
I think the biggest issue for AL is going to be who wants to be the coach that follows Saban? AL has all the resources in the world to succeed...
The fact that both FSU and Akins agreed to this settlement tells me one of two things.
Either NCAA had evidence to hit them much harder than this if they wanted to, or FSU just wanted this over so NCAA didn't go poking around under the hood.
I mean Akins accepted a 2 year show cause and then a...
https://www.cbssports.com/college-football/news/ncaa-imposes-significant-sanctions-on-florida-state-for-nil-related-recruiting-violations/
According to the article this was a negotiated settlement - meaning no appeal.
Two years of probation for Florida State.
A two-year show cause, a...
Lanning announces he's staying at OR.
Also, for the flight tracker type. At the time he was rumored to be in AL he was in OR watching a movie with his family.
Going to be interesting to see who gets that job. It is one of the best jobs in college football with really deep pockets - but you are...
Don't know if this has been reported in this thread (was out of town and not interested in going back through 30 pages), but in case it hasn't here are the basic outlines of the final PAC settlement between the 10 departing and the 2 remaining...
