I would not extrapolate my apathy to the fan base at large. Not for a moment do I think the younger fans are feeling this way. We have been in worse, much worse, circumstances than this and managed to come back. In Bill Curry's first year he had sign along the fence on the east side line...

They are going to pay Malzahn $21 million to just walk away? Geez Louise, that is some serious dough to throw away. I wonder what is the most we have paid a coach to just leave? Seems like we were paying for two coaches to not coach at one time one in basketball perhaps?

"Don't let this game cost you more games" One of the hardest things to do in sports is to let it go and focus on the next one. BC also had a disappointing loss this week. The team that is able to throw off the disappointment best will win.

True, it's never as good or as bad as it seems. This is pretty bad though. What is disturbing to me is that I am strangely ambivalent. Getting older I suppose but the lack of fire in the fan that is within me is an indication that I just don't care as much as I used to. If the players and...

Thank God for that, I was just about well done by the third quarter.

Don't know about that Virginia Tech loss. It was pretty bad to be sure but we have lost to Notre Dame 69-14, UGA 51-3, and FSU hung 50 plus on us and all of those were in living memory as well as a pretty bad loss to a really great UGA team in 1968 47-8. Seems like Virginia Tech hung 50 on...

There is a lot of complaining about coordinators going on. My Florida buddies tell me that good old "Third and Grantham" is going to be available soon. Coach Collins could give him a call. You would have to enlarge Grant Field to accommodate his ego though.

No, I doubt it we happened to be a speed bump on the way to a national championship.
  9. Clemson Post-game Thread

Actually, it kind of reminded me of the 70-0 beat down Tech put on Elon the first game of I think it was the 2013 season. I was at that game. Hot as Hades it was.

It has changed significantly in less than ten years. The elite teams are openly paying for players and are getting all the five stars plus many of the four stars. The talent differential between the elite 8 or so which includes Clemson, UGA, and Alabama and the rest of the Power 5 teams is...

Yeah, Dan Devine was the coach of the Irish and he hated Pepper Rogers. When he was at Missouri and Pepper was at Kansas, Devine was running the score up and Pepper flashed him the "peace sign" Pepper claims that Coach Devine gave him half of it back.

Damn it, Clemson just likes to run the score up. Seems that may have been when Heisman was coaching at Clemson and perhaps that game was the impetus for Tech getting him? Let me go check. Yep. The 1903 team did not actually have a coach, no wonder they got beat so bad, and Heisman was the...

You are right it was not nearly as bad as that 69-14 stomping. But my question to you since you were there is was Rudy actually "offsides"?

They are probably being paid better than a lot of 30 years olds too.

Defensive tackles, shut down corners, fast linebackers, are all rare as hen's teeth and what few there are all go to factories. IIWII

I forgot about that one. It is the worst in living memory...by a fairly healthy margin. The next worst from Clemson was probably 2018 when they were ranked #3 and beat us 49-21. Pretty bad but nothing like this.

Sadly, a distinct possibility OR they may just decide to quit fooling around and start playing ball. It is up to them to show what kind of heart and character they have.

It is inexcusable to get beat like this on national television, at home, and all but we have been beaten pretty bad before and always managed to right the ship. In 1968, we got absolutely killed by UGA in Athens 47-8 and beat them the very next year 6-0. In 1977, we got stomped in the...

I would expect them to be competitive not suffer an historically bad loss. But that is just me.

"Dabo wanted to embarrass us today." Mission accomplished when the punter is playing quarterback in the fourth quarter. Our team for the first time seemed to quit.
