True, but it is still 7 games. Let's wait until the end of the next season to put him in a "tier" if anyone wants to do so. I stand corrected on Coach Alexander, from 1920 to 1944 a period of 24 years, Coach Alex as he was known, had 1 national championship in 1927 and 3 SEC championships...

OK, but Alex was not beloved by the end of his time, national championship or not. As for Curry, he walked into the absolute worst situation of any of these coaches... and its not even close. Any chart that does not have Bill Lewis on the bottom is suspect. Coach Collins has not been here...

I liked all three of them for different reasons. I did not care of Lewis and was kind of blah about Chan. I reserve judgement on Coach Collins for at least a year. Not that it matters, as he is not going anywhere anytime soon.

I got news for that guy. There were not but a handful of bowl games all during the Dodd era. The big four of Orange, Cotton, Sugar, and Rose. Then a second tier of Gator, Bluebonnet and Liberty and the bottom feeders like the Independence Bowl, Oil, etc. In any given year during Dodd's time...
  5. MEMORIES...(first game)

The day JFK was assassinated, I was at football practice for the YMCA team at my elementary school. We were sent home early. At the tender age of 8 I listened carefully to my parents discussing it. I did not understand why someone would kill the President. I still don't. One thing I do...
  6. 2021 Recruiting Class & Transfers In

The short answer is NO. Not anytime soon anyway.
  7. National Signing Day

I have no idea what you were talking about GTpdm but I will settle for getting the biggest, baddest, meanest, dudes you can find in south Georgia, Alabama, and Florida to put on the defensive line.
  8. Tier 9: Yikes

I don't think we are truly in the "Tier Nine" as it were but you don't have to be in that tier to be a pretty bad football team which is what we have been for two years in a row. Players don't like it? Now is the time to do something about it. The 2021 season starts now. Get better and fans...
  9. Tier 9: Yikes

The only thing that was for certain is that the true factory elites remain the same: UGA, Clemson, Alabama, Ohio State, etc. The top dozen or so are way beyond the rest. If this sort of thing continues, instead of players choosing to "opt out" it will be fans doing the opting.
  10. 2021 Strength of Schedule

I don't see the Irish as "world beaters" either... just Tech beaters.
  11. Expectations for GT Football

Yep. That is who it was. No matter, we wore them out and probably changed the minds of more than just a few of the coaches.
  12. Tier 9: Yikes

Well, if he is talking about us being in the mythical bottom 25 that guy at CBS Sports puts out every week, we were in that thing off and on all year. Given that there are so many bottom feeders in FBS now it is not clear if we truly were a bottom 25 team at the end of the year, probably not...
  13. Expectations for GT Football

Yeah, you are probably right its just that Nebraska had all that NFL talent and was a favorite as the number 16 or so team against number 2 Tech.
  14. Expectations for GT Football

Unfortunately, the Falcons being the sorry birds they are, drafted the much acclaimed corner back whose name escapes me that Rodriquez abused for a while and when he got bored, the guy on the other side Emmett Merchant took his turn. That guy did not last more than a year.
  15. Expectations for GT Football

    Herman Moore? or the quarterback?
  16. Expectations for GT Football

Seems like, based upon my ever declining memory having seen most of those games in person including the Nebraska game was that the Cornhuskers were the best team but UVA had by far the best offense. Herman Moore and company were really great. Number one when we played them but collapsed down...
  17. Expectations for GT Football

Funny how that works isn't it? The best teams play the weaker schedules and the teams that are struggling somehow end up with a nightmare like this. It is actually worse than I remember because Navy was usually pretty bad all through the 1970s but had a pretty good team in 1980 as did Tulane...
  18. Expectations for GT Football

That's right. We needed him more in 1980. I was at that game in Athens and he was just magnificent until they deliberately injured him. Between him and Drew Hill we would have beat those bastards.
  19. Expectations for GT Football

Can't remember if it was him or ELI. The guy that hit ELI was a longtime color announcer for the Gators back in the 1990s. He said that hit was the hardest he ever administered and both of them ended up on the turf knocked out.
  20. Expectations for GT Football

To think we managed to tie number one Notre Dame. I was at that game and Tech who had people on defense that would hit you pretty good, crowded the line of scrimmage and dared the quarterback to hit receivers down field. He had a really bad day and was missing them by inches. That team only...
