The rumor, for what its worth, on Swamp Gas is that Mullen's hand was forced to some degree but he likely knew it was time to do something about Grantham who Florida fans derided as "Third and Grantham" for his penchant to give up third and long first downs. I will have to ask my Florida...
I actually thought it may have been 1969 but my memory was hazy. Plus it was hard to see from those rickety wood stands that used to be at Sanford Stadium. Archie, besides being pretty big for the time he played was fast and a good passer. A lethal combination with Floyd Franks at wide...
I was there and know better. The absolute worst facilities in what was then styled Division 1, combined with an utter collapse of recruiting at the end of Pepper's era left Curry with a monumental rebuilding job. It is not even close to compare his task with Collins. We agree to disagree and...
It is who they are. Right now, 3 game win streak notwithstanding, their ideal scenario would be to win out, win the ACC championship game, win their bowl game and fire Manny and the AD under the goal posts.
Reminds me of a story. In high school, I went to Athens with a friend who was a big Dog fan to see UGA play Ole Miss when they had Archie Manning as quarterback. Georgia was a slight underdog as I recall and led by perhaps, a touchdown and change going into the fourth quarter. Manning had...
All of them? Gee, I don't know, probably 7 or so. I would think that Kiffin in particular, could make a huge impact on developing Sims and the other quarterbacks. Kirby would have those defensive backs line up correctly at the very least. Just those things would make a difference.
True, the part that bothers me about this game is the presence of Jurkovich (spelling?) Just his being there, even at less than his best has a way of motivating his teammates. They are a different team with him under center. That said, this is a matchup that favors us in some ways and I...
In no way, shape, or form, can the obstacles confronting Coach Collins be compared to the challenges faced by Coach Curry. It is akin to comparing a south Georgia fire ant mound with Stone Mountain. As for Ross, his challenge was of a different nature as he had a divided locker room with...
If we move the ball better than we did against Miami, we can certainly win this game. Boston College does not have the players at wide receiver that Miami has but it will be tough to run against them. We will see. I think we can win this one but as for the others...not looking good
What is "amazing" is that some people are blind to the fact that Miami, even with well over 500 yards total offense, did their dead level best to gift us this game. What is also amazing is the last 4 possessions we had the ball we got 16 yards. Under normal circumstances Miami would have lost...
"Miami was more sloppy than usual yesterday." That takes some doing with the Canes. They gifted us a two point conversion that went 100 yards the other way, a missed 40 yard field goal, three turnovers that led to 14 points including a fumble caught in midair and returned for a TD, several...
"Mediocre" to me is just below "average". Not quite OK, but not terrible. A mediocre team would have more than 3 wins at this juncture of the season. We are pretty bad on both offense and defense but not quite terrible and certainly not "Bottom 25" material.
I doubt it with the SEC Championship game coming up but for sure they can name the score. The real question is can Tech even score on them? A loss of less than 4 or 5 touchdowns would be a moral victory at this point.
This is all true but the Miami board has a somewhat different take. Basically, they are saying that it was the worst game the Canes have played all year and that Tech is terrible. IIWII
I watched the game. It was Miami going up and down the field against a matador defense until it got to be 4th and short and the Manny show began. One Miami fan wanted to know if Manny could be put in the portal. They aren't happy even when they win.
When one team is ahead in every statistical category except TOP and turnovers, it really is not that close except for Miami doing Miami things like fumbling into the air and it being returned for a TD. Tech got just about every break possible but when you gain 6 yards on the last 4 possessions...
Miami gave it the old college try but fell just short. The botched two point conversion that was returned the other way by Tech was about the most Manny thing I have seen Miami do this season. They gained 563 yards to our 329. Hell, Rambo by himself gained more yards receiving than our whole...
