Most likely wins? Western Carolina and Duke. Possible wins? UVA and Virginia Tech. Everyone else? Not likely. I will stick with a four wins prediction.
If Tech wins more than 5 games, Geoff ought to be coach of the year with an extension. I don't really think that will happen but a lot will depend upon the first four games. Win two and we are in pretty good shape. Only win one and its Katie bar the door.
Pretty bold all right considering there are two and only two sure wins: Western Carolina and Duke. I think we can win UVA and maybe Virginia Tech. That is about as "bold" as I am willing to go until I see how both lines perform. IIWII
I hear you and respect your enthusiasm and optimism but I have heard this song and dance many times before. This team will go as far as both lines will take it.
Well, I do not recall any Tech coach losing the last two games of a season by a collective score of 0-100. Does that count? I am pretty sure no Tech coach has ever lost to Clemson by 70 points either. Beating UNC, Miami and Louisville is about all I can manage.
Your optimism does you credit but you have Tech beating UVA, Virginia Tech, UCF, and FSU. We might win one of those on the way to another 3 or 4 win season. Another rebuilt offensive line from castoffs that other teams don't want does not instill confidence.
Every team in America except for Rice, Tulane, and Duke are all playing the "IF" game. One "IF" is good. Two IFs can be overcome. Three IFs are always problematic and more than three IFs usually end up being too much for teams to handle. I see us with about 5 IFs.
"I grew irritated with UGA football in the mid 90s..." Understandable as those were the days of losing to the hated Gators and the insufferable Steve Spurrier year after year. Among other zingers, when asked about Florida having more talent than Georgia, he said: " I don't know about that...
My father used to play Ramblin Wreck and Up With the White and Gold at my house on the stereo even when my mother was pregnant with me. Thus, as the Lord said to the prophet Jeremiah: "Lo, while you were yet formed in your mother's womb, I knew you." Same thing with me.
Yep. For years Miami, Florida, and FSU have regarded UCF as a sleeping giant of sorts. To me, they have a much better program and situation than South Florida or FIU. It will be a challenging road game to say the least. My Florida friends used to look down on UCF but that stopped about the...
They have the arrogance of Florida fans under Spurrier and the trophy case of Vanderbilt sans the Egg Bowl. So pretty much the same except not as disgusting as the home team besides there is The Grove.
Of the five ranked teams...
Clemson #4 forget about it
Ole Miss #21 Kiffin will destroy our defense
Pitt #17 A possibility depending upon the new quarterback
Miami #16 If we could not beat them with every break last year, I don't think we will this year
UGA #3 May stay within 6 or 7 TDs...
If the "Big Boy" FB is anything like the last three years I will go with the Willie Mays approach: "It takes a man to play this game...but you got to have a lot of little boy in you too"
Your enthusiasm and optimism do you credit young man. Not for a nary second do I agree but admire your willingness to embrace a team that will be clearly overmatched on both lines, a recipe for disappointment in any team.
