I had an intern that was an Alabama student. He said that he and his fellow students found the games boring because they knew they were gonna win and the other team probably isn’t even going to be competitive.
Nice problem to have.
Maryland’s offense was actually pretty good last year and not dissimilar from what they are running this year. They scored 42 on Minnesota and 51 on OSU last year.
Totally apples and oranges.
These posters who want to sling it around want a repeat of that.
If CPJ was an OC in the mold of Friedgen we could have run a pro set and beat them by 35, but he was a one trick pony and insisted on running his offense with a guy that ran a 5.5 40.
Minnesota killed us. Pitt was only close because of a late garbage TD.
We were closer to 5-7 (UVA and Miami not taking shotguns to their own feet) than nine wins.
I’m not making any long term calls on CGC. I’m just a realist about the situation he inherited. Pnude might not be a good OC, Thacker might not be a good DC, Collins might not be a good HC but they all deserve a chance to show what they have.

Elite was probably excessive but that defense carried our team. With a typical Johnson era defense that team would've probably lost at least two more (and one of those would've been G-W). The offense finally clicked in November (just in time to beat Miami and the mutts).
Look at who USF beat last year during their amazing 7 game win streak:
FCS Elon by 20
7-6 GT by 11
4-8 Illinois by 6
3-9 ECU by 7
4-8 UMASS by 16
3-9 Tulsa by 1
1-11 UCONN by 8
Then their 6 game losing streak
8-5 Huoston lose by 21
7-6 Tulane lose by 26
11-2 Cincy lose by 12
8-5 Temple lose by...
If you can’t understand the obvious logical fallacy of them being worse this year because we shut down their offense and beat them you either just don’t understand or more likely you choose not to understand.
They were terrible last year. They lost 6 in a row. They didn’t beat another team with...
