It is really remarkable. In 1966, I went to Homecoming with my parents and the theme was "What is a Nittany Lion?" Of course, it was Penn State. Their uniforms were plain blue and white and here it is a new century and they look exactly the same. Incidentally, that game was mentioned in Joe...
I marked "first choice" and then I thought maybe he wasn't if Chadwell was hired. So, he was and he wasn't. Don't care, he has my unqualified support and he has earned this job the hard way. One caveat, he has a bunch of contributors to replace next year so it will not be easy to get to 6...
Furman Bisher called them "the hanging jury in the West Stands". My parents and I sat in the middle of them and they were hard to please. This one guy in front of us was typical. That old geezer had to be 75 if he was a day (or about 8 years older than I am now but I digress) Tech would...
What defense does Coach Staggs run? Is his "stigma" because of the scheme or his personality or something else? Does he run something like the old split 60? (TIC) At one time 30 years or so, Virginia Tech and UGA were the only two major college teams still running that defense. Pretty...
He did not waste any time did he? I wonder if he got rid of them based on what he thought of their performance, or was it more personality clashes or some combination? Maybe, he already had someone in his pocket to replace them that he liked better? It is Coach Key's show now. He can do as...
My preference is the GWG (old school) or the GGW (the Chan era) Don't care for blue pants, blue jerseys etc. I thought the Curry era "Black Watch" uniforms were good but they looked too much like Vanderbilt, Colorado, and Army among others.
I think with the few brain cells left to me, that the multiple "Fire CGC" threads that were eventually combined into one is the record holder with this one being second. (I think, therefore I am not a DWAG) with apologies to Rene Descartes.
It may seem superfluous, but from 1904 to 1966, about 62 years, Tech had only 3 coaches
Heisman 1904-1919 1 national championship and 3 or 4 conference championships
Alexander 1920-1944 1 national championship and 8 conference championships
Dodd 1945 -1966 1 national championship and 2...
Dang. I thought maybe, for some reason, a Brad Stewart thread was the longest. I don't even remember the above referenced thread though I likely as not posted some kind of silly nonsense as is my custom. Thank you for the reply.
That's one way of looking at it but we tried the "big splash" contract and all it did was show how creative we can be in spending other people's money.
