No question about his stuff, 96+ mph, he was just wild as hell, lots of BB, which held him back his first 2 years. His control improved a lot in his 3rd and last season at Tech.

I agree 100% with you regarding Lackey's throw. Lackey showed out just making the catch and throwing off balance. Bechetti did well just not to be killed, much less making the put out. I do admit my perspective may be weighed as an ex-2nd baseman. :)

The throw was high for a throw to catch a runner on a steal but what made the catch and tag really difficult was it was thrown way off the bag into the runner that Bachetti had to avoid. No doubt Lackey is a damn good defensive catcher but that throw would have ended up in center field with the runner safe on third base except for the athleticism shown by Bechetti in my opinion. What a play by both players!
