In a quick review of last year film, it appeared to me that Clemson crashed defensive tackles AND defensive ends to the mesh in order to assure 1) they stopped the dive 2) messed up the timing outside and 3) keep the OL from getting to the linebackers. I expect them to do the same this year. They then used the LB's and safeties to stop the outside with hard charging cornerbacks as well. When we had success, which wasn't often, we did it by Mills going more over the offensive tackle on an angle. Look for Benson to take a wider path on dives quite often. Not always but often. Also possibly Marshall to follow on midline. Particularly given weather forecast.
On defense, have to believe Clemson will run a lot of bubble screens. Renfro may be their best offensive player. May also try to run on our defense particularly with power sweep with leading pulling offensive line. They killed us in 15 with this play.
Of course there are a lot of plays run in a game besides these and strategies change on the fly and I'm also probably wrong. One thing obviously CPJ felt last year was he had to throw it. I'm not sure about that. He was forced to lat year, had a better throwing QB and the pass blocking against Wake was not good. I think he tries to at least grind it out but obviously if it is 3rd and 10 you don't have much choice.
