[QUOTE="Techster, post: 762132, member: 360"] If the CGC tenure does not work out, it won't be because "GT tried to do it like everyone else", it'll be because our HC and assistants didn't turn out to be as good of a field coach as a recruiting coach. Half of our fans will fall back to "GT should have stuck with the option", but the reality is, half of our fans couldn't tell you the difference between what Clemson/Oklahoma/Alabama/Ole Miss/Ohio State all do. They may all look the same because the QB is in the shotgun and they have multiple receivers, but the offenses are all different. Yes, like any other offense (or defense), the better players you have the easier it is to win, but just because the offenses "look the same" doesn't mean they are. Look at Indiana and Northwestern. They're not recruiting well, but Northwestern especially, has been outhitting their recruiting. Indiana is having a HELL of a season, and their offense "looks like everyone else's", but they marching up and down the field on Ohio State/Michigan/Penn State with far inferior recruits. It's because their coach is a heck of a coach and has nothing to do with "they're doing the same things as everyone else". I enjoyed CPJ's time here, and I believe he deserves to be in the ring of honor sooner rather than later, but too many of our fans heard him say "you can't do the same things as everyone else" and expect to win and keep regurgitating it.
