Spring Game = ?

Just saw this article re: Rhule at Nebraska canceling their spring game, specifically because of transfers and the potential for tampering:

This is Nebraska. Who has one of the best attended spring fames in college football, that generates a not-insignificant amount of revenue for the football program.

Makes me wonder - does anyone here think the benefit of our spring game is less than the risk? Or that spring games will continue in the midst of the “Wild West” of transfers? Seems like we’ve already lost a few to this situation over multiple years…including a team captain.

What are your thoughts?

It's a promo-time for the team and the fans.

Sadly, some of the players at the end of spring practice are not on the team come August, also we have new players (transfers) too that come plus including freshman that did not early enroll, so it's not like the August Fan Day when it comes to being able to see the players face to face.

Honestly good for Nebraska but I'm not sure we should be sacrificing a major promotional event like the spring game. Rhule knows that fanbase is going to stick 85k in Memorial every game. We, on the other hand, can't really afford to give up a spring game that engages more fans, alumni, boosters, and helps sell season tickets and solicit Tech Way donations.

Might as well destroy this tradition as well. Soon robots will be playing the game and we can all stream it while riding around in our driverless cars. Can’t wait

Go Jackets!
Robots in the long run would be cheaper (NIL) and would level the playing field (Transfer Portal). Yes, to football robots.
