Fwiw, he was called for targeting in the second half last night vs Wake...this means he is suspended the first half vs us next week.

He is the starting S for Clemson.

i think its safe to say, forget the location of your head or where you hit someone...if you leave your feet, you're out.

The rules at the moment favor offenses. The game has changed to the point where defenses are at a disadvantage. The guise of player safety has really limited how you can play defense.

Hate to say it, but bubble-wrap ball is here to stay, and we can probably thank one of our own for pushing the concussion lawsuits. What you are seeing is like when they took all the diving boards out of public and hotel pools years ago because of the lawsuits. It is not about what is right or wrong or really safe or dangerous or who is really liable. It is about the NCAA being able to go into court one day and say to a judge, "Well, we did this and this and that, and we tightened down on the rules and kicked people out of games. We were responsible. DON'T TAKE OUR MONEY AWAY." This rule enforcement is the NCAA's 'Caution: Wet Floor' sign.

The average lifespan of a football player is 10-15 years shorter than the usual American male (when adjusted for demographic factors)
Hundreds, if not thousands of former players have already been diagnosed with serious post-concussion syndromes and CTE
There are multiple murders and suicides that have been connected to these brain injuries.

And you're upset that football might not be as fun to watch because people won't get hurt as often. That's a little selfish, no?

Funny how the conversation has gone recently. For a while people were asking, "Does anyone play defense anymore?" Then the conversation changed to something like, "Wow, offenses have really advanced with all of this spread option and such and it just looks like offenses have finally gotten so far ahead of defenses that defenses will never catch up again." Then the conversation shifted to a conversation about all the b.s. calls being made by refs against defensive players and all the overlooked holding calls on the offensive line. Finally the conversation evolved to its darkest level, "Oh no, if referees keep calling games like this we are going to end up looking like the NFL!"

For everybody complaining about the rules, how bout some suggestions for lowering concussions? If not, then I don't want to hear it.

Should soldiers sue the military because they can die on the job? Should rescue workers sue because of statistics relating to on-the-job risks? Every person who plays pee wee and gets nailed for the first time by a guy twice his size knows you can get hurt playing football. How about this? Be responsible for your own choices. Don't want to risk it? Don't play ball. Go work for 40 hours a week for 30k a year like most everyone else.

And there's another problem with your statistics. I'm sure repeated concussions can be responsible for some of that. But there is no absolute direct correlation. I'd be willing to bet you'd find males with high testosterone have shorter lifespans in general due to risk-taking behavior. Be willing to bet as much comes from the psychological damage of being worshipped for playing a sport, and then after it's over trying to find a way to be just a normal dude, like child stars in Hollywood or fading actors and musicians. Do concussions cause the latter to have so many instances of lives cut short?

I think there's a middle ground somewhere. It all starts back in peewee football when the kids are taught that the helmet protects their head. It really doesn't. I wonder how many concussions occur in other very physcal sports that don't use helmets like Rugby, Gaelic Football and Aussie Football. Those guys are smart and don't lead with their head. Gee, I wonder why?

Who is talking about suing? So let me get this. You're saying if the military comes up with a technology that reduces risk of injury/death, you'd rather not see it deployed? Because that's the more appropriate analogy.

How about this? Be responsible for your own choices? Don't enjoy watching the game anymore? Don't watch it. Go watch soap operas on TV like everyone else.

Why we're at it let's end damaged knees, ankle sprains, broken fingers, and every other freakin injury that can occur in and out of football.
I'm also for some people living for ever.....dying sucks!
Of course you can't remove all risk of injury, if that's you best rebuttle, I'm disappointed.

If you don't want to get hit don't play football. No one is forcing the helmet and shoulder pads on these players.

Been in a cave for a few years? There have already been lawsuits and legal pressure. The rest of what you're saying has nothing to do with any objections or points I've made. Never addressed the better equipment issue or better teaching at the youth level. Fine with me on that. What's that got to do with throwing a flag to cover you a** every time someone gets hit hard because you have to be afraid of a lawsuit?

I will certainly take your sage advice under consideration LOL.
