Position Changes for 2020

Haven't seen this thread yet, but according to the AJC, Jerry Howard and Bruce Jordan-Swilling will be switching positions (Howard to LB and Swilling to RB) for 2020. Seems like an odd decision for both considering they each have only one year left.

At the very least, I'd expect a redshirt year for BJS. The guy has been through a lot of injuries and could use a year off to retrain himself at RB. For Jerry Howard, I think it depends on how the staff wants to manage the roster. If they want that roster spot, they may just play him 5+ games next season. But considering how thin we are at LB, he may also get a redshirt so he can contribute in 2021.

Not sure I get the move for BJS given what we have at RB right now, but if you’re counting that would put us at three four star RB recruits in that position group...pretty strong group

Luke Johns is a good example of why scouts get paid the big bucks, and messageboarders need to stick to their day jobs...at least me

LOVED his HS tape. Thought at worst he would be a pass rush specialist like Tyler Marcordes became his JR and Senior year. Had good get off at the snap, nice closing speed, and good athleticism. Good length and size as well...was tenacious.

He certainly has the size/length/athleticism to play TE from DE.

He’s built like a Greek God and he’s extremely athletic imo. Seems like the perfect combo for a Bruce Carter type LB (former UNC linebacker who was an absolute freak).

Did he play LB in HS? Someone just said something like a steep learning curve. That’s what I was thinking

I think howard will add strength at lb - at least when he miss reads he won't look like ax grocery cart. Our guys mis read and the ol makes a giant hole.
Hopefully we are way stronger and read the plays better.

I thought he was one of our most consistent linebackers. He’s light in the britches though. Kaleb Oliver looks like he’s packed on some muscle. Maybe a position swap?
