Playing Time

It's off-season and we're in Spring Practice, where there is much discussion about development and potential starters. So, I have a question for the former players and guys close to team during this coaching regime. This question evolved from all the discussions about Laskey versus Custis.

Who makes the calls on playing time, head coach, coordinator or position coach?

On offense, while CPJ is calling the plays, I'm pretty sure he's not deciding which linemen are going in and out of the game, or probably the receivers. He may not even be calling which B-Back is playing. He chooses which A-Back he sends the play in with, and obviously the QB, but what about everybody else?

I imagine that prior to the game, the coaching staff meet to discuss who plays in the game, what the 2-deep/3-deep is for the game. But do the assistants have control of how much playing time each player gets? In other words, does CPJ only get involved with the O-Line when he continuously sees someone screwing up or does he orchestrate the plays and the players? Does Cook determine who gets more snaps, Sims or Laskey?

I would imagine that he'd be even further removed for the defensive side of the ball. But there, does Roof decide when the DL needs a blow or is that Pelton's responsibility?

I know when I played in HS, my position coach had control of our playing time, but the HC would yank someone out he wasn't happy with and send in his own choice. I would assume there'd be something like that here, but don't know for sure.
