Option “Offsides Play”

Can anybody help me identify a game where CPJ called the “offsides play” and then actually snapped the ball? YouTube link would be very helpful, but I can do that if anybody just remembers year and opponent.

As someone that has driven 5 hours to the game, I hate that play.
I fall for it every time.

I sit their watching will everyone else heads to concession stand. They are in line and out before the other team can start thier offense. I am still in line loading up and then only see the first plays on mjcro screens near concessions.

If your goal is to have as few plays possible pergame, just burn the clock by standing there.

Please report back if they ever run a play.

Probably not much help but I’m almost positive we ran it against uga at least once.

I wish I could remember off the top of my head, but I just watched one of his games where he called it then snapped it, but I can't remember opponent or year.

I don't remember the yard line, but that is the one that I remember. I was shocked. After the game CPJ said that he was preparing to call timeout, but Kentucky didn't have anyone lined up on the center. He said if they weren't going to put a DL inside the tackles that he was just going to take it.

I believe he is talking about the -pull the defense offsides- play. In the flexbone, it was motion the AB and have him reset hard beside the QB. Then motion the second AB to do the same thing. QB snaps his hands, and the ABs go into a "fake" motion. Other offenses do similar things with the QB snapping his hands and/or players going into motion. In the Kentucky game, only one AB went into motion. JT was waiting, and CPJ was preparing to call a timeout, but he just let it proceed.

I don't think anyone mentioned that it was only done on 4th down and less than 5 to go, obviously to draw the D offsides to get a gimme first down.

I seem to remember us running a play against UNC for a first down in that situation, but can't remember any game details.

What I like about this film and don't like about our present O is that when they decide to give the ball to Mills late, Tech runs right over them. Part of this may be that Maddox is hurt; he's the only real FB-type we have. But I really miss being able to watch Tech take a game over on the ground.

I know I'm channeling Key here; if anything that's what he wants too. And I know we're working toward it. Maybe he can find another Mills soon. A Pyron/Philo + Mills-type O would be so nice.

I know we've run a play from it but, like you, can't recall when it was.

The Second is this is called a stem motion it is often used in the flexbone when running with signaling in from the sidelines. We actually did this a lot in 2015 when we went to signally when we were basically out of a-backs. On most of our 4th downs that we did this "play" the QB is reading the line and the reaction to the motion. Against Kentucky they didn't fill a gap for the dive presnap so JT snapped it and hande dit off. We als ran triple out of this after the second motion due to it basically now being a wishbone set a back counter once as well.

We also would utilize this when teams were keying off of our motion back and timing the snap from it. It might have been '09(?) against uga that we were getting plays blown up from them timing our motion back, so we switched up the timing and went to this and caught them off guard a good bit opening up running lanes and kickstarting our offense.

Yep. My favorite was stop motion to I then I form HB iso with Anthony Allen and Dwyer lead blocking.

We ran this play at 19:12 mark against Clemson in 2009 ACCCG. A-backs motioned into wishbone formation. Clemson coach was basically on the field signaling to the defense not to fall for it, then they snapped the ball and pitched to Allen for 1st down.
