Fine in that the program would exist? Sure. Fine in that program would have any publicity nationally or regionally unless, like I said, we were competing for ACC Championships and NY6 games regularly? No. When is the last time you heard anybody get excited for a Duke vs. Boston College game? Or NCSU vs. Syracuse? Or Virginia vs. Pitt? Hell, hardly any ACC games even get televised on national TV as it is. Last year, the ACC featured these games on national TV: I won’t count Notre Dame as a conference team, but will note when they play a national game vs. an ACC opponent Week “Zero”

Miami vs. Florida (only game played that week)
Week 1

3 total appearances
Zero intra-conference matchups
Notre Dame featured
Week 2

3 total appearances
Zero intra-conference matchups
Clemson featured
Week 3

4 total appearances
2 intra-conference matchups
1 Friday Night game
Clemson featured
Week 4

4 total appearances
1 intra-conference matchup
Week 5

3 total appearances
2 intra-conference matchups
Clemson featured
Notre Dame featured
1 Friday night game
Week 6

1 total appearance
1 intra-conference matchup
Week 7

3 total appearances
2 intra-conference matchups
1 Friday night game
1 Thursday night game
Clemson featured
Week 8

2 total appearances
2 intra-conference matchups
1 Friday night game
Clemson featured
Week 9

2 total appearances
2 intra-conference matchups
Week 10

3 total appearances
2 intra-conference matchups
Notre Dame featured
Week 11

2 total appearances
2 intra-conference matchups
Clemson featured
Week 12

2 total appearances
2 intra-conference matchups
1 Thursday night game
Clemson featured
Week 13

3 total appearances
2 intra-conference matchups
1 Thursday night game
Notre Dame featured
Week 14

4 total appearances
2 intra-conference matchups
1 Friday afternoon game
Clemson featured
That gives up a grand total of 39 total, and 2.78 nationally televised games per week, featuring an ACC team (40 & 2.67 of you count the Miami vs. UF game.) Take away the 7 Thursday and Friday games that didn’t take place on rivalry week, and you get 2.28 ACC games per Saturday. Clemson and Notre Dame were featured in 12 of the 39 total games, or about 30%. Only 22 of the games featured an ACC vs. ACC matchup, or 1.57 per week. Take out the 7 weekday ACC vs. ACC games and you only get 15 intra-conference games on Saturdays With 18 non-conference games including the UM vs. UF game: 6 were against SEC teams (15% of total games) 4 were against Notre Dame (10% of total games) That’s 25% of the total ACC national games. For the past 5 years Tech basically has gotten 3-4 national games per year.

1 Thursday/Friday night game
1 vs. Clemson
1 vs. Miami
1 vs. Georgia
Losing that Georgia game makes Tech even more irrelevant regionally and nationally than it already is. The only way you could combat losing that game would be competing for title. But if we’re competing for titles, the COFH games should be competitive as well. There’s absolutely no benefit for Tech to drop the UGA game other than a chance to better the record, but unless you’re winning 10 games your record is already irrelevant. Not to mention the lost revenue of a guaranteed sellout
