Let's be real: EVERYONE knows Durkin's time at Marland is going to be short. Well, everyone except the decision makers at Maryland. The only problem now is the decision makers at Maryland just told the world they have absolutely no spine...and for what?! A coach that's 10-15?! Are you kidding me? How absolutely tone deaf, and blind is the administration at Maryland? The current interim coach is 5-3. Maryland is actually having a pretty decent season, and are 1 win from a bowl game. Now you've just ruined your reputation, and brought chaos into a program that was stabilizing under the interim coach. This will not end well with Durkin. Instead of cutting him and swallowing the buyout...which, IMO, they could have litigated down due to circumstances surrounding the program and a player's death, they now are going to have to buy him out anyways, AND they let the world and recruits know just how gutless they are. They let the current players know no one is on their side and watching over their welfare. If I was a recruit or a recruit's parents, I don't even entertain a phone call from anyone associated with that program. No way in hell I'm sending my son there so coaches can brow beat and verbally intimidate him to the point he feels he has to finish conditioning even when his body is shutting down on him. Then, when he's down on the ground convulsing, they insult him even more. Absolute insanity. From ADULTS!!! God have mercy on their souls.
