It is horrible the way they ignore us, not just for Ugag but G State and even Kennesaw ST. Call the stations and complain................

GA Tech will have to add a major in journalism to make up the deficit. Ain’t happening, that’s a bread and butter degree program at UGAg. The BOR won’t hear of it. Even though they gave UGAg an engineering major a few years back.

The disparity of how the two schools are handled is borderline criminal - all over a football program.

I’m ready for Tech to start winning again to get themselves in the news.
That doesn't really help with the local media. In 1990, GT was undefeated and won the MNC. The mutts went 4-7. Every week, the mutts had the prime -above-the-fold- spot in the sports section of the Atlanta papers. (there were two back then one in the morning and one in the afternoon) I don't remember GT being on the front page of the main section of the paper until actually winning the MNC. (but I might be wrong about that.)

When I attended GT in 1953-57, Tech was the only game in town. No Falcons, Hawks, Braves. And we had beaten the Dawgs 8 years in a row. Tech WAS Atlanta's sports. Now we must compete for media coverage with the afore mentioned group.

GT just needs to win. Beat UGA 40-50% of the time, make NY bowl games more often, get into the playoffs once every 2-4 years, and compete for the ACC Championship once every 2-4 years. The objective is to stay in the media and give them something to talk about. GT plays UGA/FSU/ND/Clemson/Miami/the occasional ranked ACC team...we don't play all those teams every year, but enough that if we beat them more times than not, we should be in the conversation for the ACCCG and playoffs. You stay relevant by consistently winning.

When GT was winning big in 2009 and 2014, we were talked about more with the local and national media. ESPN and Sports Illustrated (who was bigger back then) did multiple articles about us throughout the season.

GT is investing heavily into our football program (30% increase in our football budget this year), and we our getting a war chest together for our NIL (seriously, look at what we're doing over in the recruiting section of this board). Cabrera is backing up his words. GT will win more sooner than I thought.

Good times are ahead. The headlines and accolades will follow.

I’ve been under the impression that journalism is a dying profession. Just look at the pitiful joke that the AJC has turned into in recent years.

I’d love it if the entire paper was a must-read. There are parts worth reading. Bill Torpy covers local news like it should be covered. Today, he’s covering the Cobb County Clerk of Courts, where the department is so messed up that many defendants are never informed about their court dates. The local bar thinks she’s turned the county court system into a fiasco. Chad Bishop is doing good work for our beat coverage. Their coverage of the Young Thug trial has been stellar.

If you pay attention to good journalism, you get more of it. We could use more good journalism

I’m sorry, but IMHO, it’s very hard to find good journalism that may have been written by a (an alleged) journalist who is employed by the AJC. Good luck in finding a paragraph without a mistake or an untruth.
