[QUOTE="SoCal_GT_Fan, post: 399920, member: 365"] This is a question for anyone who's familiar with football recruiting: On the west coast (specifically Southern California) a QB recruit JT Daniels just re-classified himself from being a 2019 recruit to a 2018 recruit and signed with USC. Typically we don't see this happening in football much (see it more with basketball). JT Daniels was considered one of the top QBs for the 2019 class (i.e. consensus 5-star recruit by all recruiting services). I was wondering if he re-classified to a 2018 recruit, would he still be considered a 5-star recruit? Since part of the grading I would assume is based on potential (getting stronger, faster, better at reading a defense, etc) and if he reclassified to go to college a year early maybe he would not be considered a 5-star for 2018. I am pretty sure why he re-classified: Sam Darnold declared for the draft and USC's QB depth chart is not good and his high school team Mater Dei (big SoCal powerhouse) will lose A LOT of talent this year and he might not have as good of a year as he had this year.
