There are some advanced stats that aren’t in yet after the UVA game. We were up to #51 out of 131 teams in defensive efficiency (DFEI) before playing UVA. That’s above average, but not massively above average. It’s better than we’ve been since about 2017 though.
UVA scored 16 against us, and they normally score a bit over 17, so our defensive performance against them was kind of average. Our numbers on defense probably won’t move much

I remember the old cpj defenses had better stats than on field results due to
A. bend but dont break until Important
B. the gt offense has the ball.

This gt defense is fun to watch and gets the ball back for the offense to get another 3 and out do over.

The Uva punter was awesome in our game. ( In the old days we actually left the tail gate to watch Harvin do mortar shoots into the otherc teams warm ups). This guy dropped his punts inside the 10.

If gt defense stays close to this level of effectiveness, the special teams wake up, and the offense stops embarrassing; we can win 2 games.

Our D is massively better in points allowed per drive I would think. If CPJ had been coaching the O, there would have been 1/3 the UVa drives in the game.

I’m not getting the joke, sorry ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ .
NCAA scoring chart, next. Final column is points per game. Oh, the humanity!
(yes, we’re the #125 scoring offense with a bowl-worthy defense, smh)

It’s not a week yet, but for someone who watched the game, I’m still wondering how we couldn’t even accidentally score again.

The efficiency stats factor out what CPJ’s offense did, and just measure what the defense did while they were on the field. If there’s anything, it’s that the offense gave them a chance to catch their breath and they didn’t have to go back in after less than three minutes.

This GT defense has been fun to watch, but I don’t think last Thursday was one of their better games.

FSU’s run defense is really good. Either our run game has to get MUCH better, or we have to figure out how to pass.
