… by offering him a huge $$$$$$$ (7- figure) salary.

“Grass is not always greener somewhere else.”

They can easily afford it.

Assuming the school values it’s baseball program in a significant manner (not sure they do) it would take a huge amount of money for Link and probably for his staff. Additionally, they would have to make a huge investment into their baseball-facility infrastructure. Their field and their facilities are subpar. The recruiting game has gotten so competitive and fierce. Link did a great job going out and finding really good older players. His recruiting classes have not been that great the past few years; yet, he wins. Schools like Clemson (for example) are going in ”all in“ on baseball. I don’t see him staying at Notre Dame, but we shall see as this should all unfold rather quickly after Omaha.

Yep, ND fired the entire baseball staff in 2019. They were trying to recruit Christian and given the complete new staff, and the following, Made it a difficult to garner interest. (Even thought our travel program owner came from ND and the Orioles.)

ND is also a tough school (academically) and private so Pricey too. $58,843 (Tuition and fees) + $16,304 (Room and board) = $75,147!!!!!

Makes it hard very hard to recruit, unless they have some academic $$ assistance or endowment (like Stanford or Vandy).
No HOPE scholarship like situation in any other state.

It's also in the North.
Hard to recruit players from the South to play up North in the cold and live in the cold.
At least ND plays team in the South, but you're still living in the cold.

We'll see what ND decides to do. They're getting great press this year and results, so we'll see if they try to keep him.
Clemson and FSU can definitely outspend ND, if they wanted or if ND lets them.

Coaching tenure and turmoil is havoc to recruiting as well. Definitely stirs the pot.

Link would definitely have an easier time recruiting at a Clemson or FSU. That's for sure.
He also played for FSU and is from FL so if I were a betting man......
