How much does Aaron Philo play against Vandy?

  • Only if King is unavailable (i.e. helmet loss, injury, somehow ejected for targeting, etc.)

  • Takes the field in the first half

  • Takes the field in the second half in a close game

  • Sees garbage time in the second half with the game out of reach

I think we’ll use him on a couple of series as a change-up for Vandy’s defense to account for and to help get Aaron more experience for next season.

FYI: Playing in the bowl game would not count against Philo in regards to red-shirting.
Yeah, I'd be mildly surprised if Philo doesn't see the field some in Birmingham. Like you said, as a change-up, and also to get a little more experience under his belt.

I believe that I heard Key say in one of his interviews last week that he wants to play a lot of guys, everyone has been working hard in practice so he wants to let them have some time. Now that may be coach speak but it makes sense ...it is a bowl game

I think they’ll defointiely give him some time with the first team to see how he looks (again) and to reward him for his hard work.

We're going to have one of these threads every game until King graduates, aren't we?
Not to be picky, but King already got his undergraduate degree from Texas A&M before he ever came to GT. I have NO idea how the academics play into his career, but he does have another season of NCAA eligibility…which is what you’re referring to.

Maybe not just coach speak - maybe Key wants to treat bowl games as a reward for a good season. Dodd had a lot of success with that approach.
Good to know there's good attitude going into this one. Vandy will be stoked, and the Jackets will have to match their intensity.
