NCST QB Grayson McCall retires from football (concussions added up)

Sad that having to leave that way, but better to end this way than being a vegetable due to taking one too many hits.

I didn’t get to play my senior year due to head injuries from freshman-junior, and I was beat up about that.
I’m sure he’s sad too.

Only difference is he gets to soothe the pain with a jet ski after receiving hundreds of thousands $$

Best for his future health. My best friend had 2 football related concussions in HS. Played linebacker at West Point. Had at least 2 concussions there. He is now suffering from CTE. Didn't show up for years.

I'm glad to see this. It needs to be a trend for players to retire from the game when they get multiple head injuries. Now, it is easier when you made big bucks before, but it still needs to be said: the game is dangerous. There's a reason that the NFL is running ads touting football.

Statistically, he had the best season from an efficiency standpoint until Jaydon Daniels won the Heisman last season. Historically, he'll own 2 of the top 20 passing efficiency seasons in CFB history.

He was perfect for Jamie Chadwell's offense. He struggled once Chadwell left Coastal Carolina, and he was never the same after his injury during Chadwell's last year.

Too many years of football, hockey, and rugby gave me half a dozen or so concussions. Back then the trainer or whoever would just pop a smelling salt under your nose and back in the game you’d go. They might also ask you your name or how many fingers they were showing you (almost invariably they’d hold up two fingers so that was always a good guess 😄)

This makes me feel bad for him. He was such a stud under Chadwell and I'm sure this was a heartbreaking decision. Most NCAA athletes have been playing their sport since they were young kids...to walk away from it is a heavy decision. Kudos to him for making that decision and I wish him all the best moving forward.
