Too bad NCAA didnt require this benefit be given to players about 10 years . ago.

This is interesting. ESPN article in April said only 22 of 130 FBS schools contacted said they will pay bonuses in 2022. At that time GT was not in the 22. Surprisingly (at least to me), many schools said they had no plans to participate in this award program. Although it's not huge $$ compared to some of the NIL deals, it seems like a slam dunk for offering additional NCAA-approved financial incentives for athletes to come to a school.

Is this the big news that was alluded to in transfer thread?

Regardless, this is a great program. It also gives an incentive for athletes to stay here if they are handling the work load. I think we are going to need to get old and stay old to have sustained success like what Iowa or Michigan State does.
