They've more than missed the boat on this one, as inflation was rearing its head quite awhile ago. Rather than take very small, muted moves along the way that the market would probably ignore, now their back is up against the wall. Increasing interest rates will likely lead to a large move in the stock market. Letting inflation continue unabated will cause major economic disruptions. Whats surprising to me as a slightly older person is that we've been here over and over and over and keep making the same mistakes.
