GA Tech Football about to Join Elite Status

This has been a truly amazing year for Paul Johnson and the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets. At 10-2 and champs of the state of Georgia, Tech awaits Florida State at Saturday’s Dr. Pepper ACC Championship. It’s amazing to think, but the Yellow Jackets could be sitting even prettier right now.

Both of Georgia Tech’s loses were by a combined 11 points, and the loss to UNC with :11 left is the only thing keeping this game from being a de facto play-in game for the inaugural CFB Playoff. It was that night back in October that Ted Roof’s defense woke up after a total embarrassment and helped fueled this 5-game winning streak.

I think this is sorta counting our chickens. We've had a great year and we have some good players moving up to replace our seniors. But some of them will be hard to replace and their successors will have to come up in a hard school.

As the article says, the key here is defensive improvement. If we can improve on D - playing like we are right now from the gitgo would be nice - then things will probably be just fine. 10 wins fine? Well, could be, but winning that many games is as much a matter of luck and effort as it is of talent - look at Awbun or the Creoles this year.

But right now, we're rolling! Let's concentrate on beating people and let impressions take care of themselves.
