I actually find this the most interesting aspect of this game. I would say, any other time a team only has a week to prepare for us, they would definitely put at a major disadvantage. In this case, I wonder if CK can coach the necessary discipline necessary while teaching the nuances that he may know of in the 3 practices leading up to this game. Will definitely be something interesting to pay attention to.

Pretty fair assessment. I'm pretty sure CCK knows or remember what worked or what CPJ like to do vs. certain alignments. This will come down to execution. I'm interested in seeing how CCK will use Jalen Ramsey

Something that may come into play for us (or maybe it's just me) is the added motivation to beat your old coach. Sorta like son beating father. CCK was a team favorite and recruited a lot of the players on my the squad now, including JT.

It's not about scheme. It's the ability to convince your defense that they must stay disciplined on every down. I'm not sure if anyone can convince that group of players, who hasn't lost since late 2012, that they have to play differently. If ego is a factor, Tech will take advantage of it.

I"m going to paraphrase what someone said in another thread about this unique situation: It's great to have inside knowledge of what we do, it's another thing to get it in your players' heads and have them execute with 3 days to work with.

Well, I'm not anxious to see that Ramsey kid. Absolute baller. He, O'leary (TE) and Cook (RB) are what scare me the most about FSU.

Like @brian22 said tho, it's all about execution. Their D doesn't strike me as a disciplined bunch tho. Just uber-talented. Kelly could tell them exactly what to do and where to be, but on the field who knows what they'll react to.

We should be fine. Or we could just get lucky, right Nick?

It's not just about discipline. Ugag was disciplined. UVA was disciplined. Miami was disciplined. It's also about us being able to move the ball anyway because our OL can get movement from their DL and our QB can pass and there's nothing the defense can do to keep us from outnumbering them every time. Getting off blocks can keep us to a 5 yard gain. Totally destroying multiple blocks is the only way to stone us. Clemson's D is the only team who was able to do this to us to any extent this year. Sure, discipline is important. Discipline could keep us from scoring 50. But, it can't keep us from scoring 30.

As always, our defense vs their offense is what will determine the outcome of this game more than anything else.

I like Coach Kelly a lot, personally. I think the concept he has of our offense from his time under PJ is totally off as we've morphed into a "power" spread option team that can also cut block. That was very evident in our game this past Saturday against UGA. We no longer have to rely on "trickery" for our B-Back dives but bulldozers driving for those 4-yard gains, which helps us get those short 3rd down opportunities.

We have also been passing better with Smelter in the game, as well as to our A-Backs since Justin is the best dual-threat QB we've ever had. With Smelter questionable, it's possible Kelly will attempt to crowd the LoS to take away our running game early and play our passing game one-on-one and see if our receivers can beat their "better" athletes. We'll need to see our secondary receivers to step up and play big, but, more importantly, our offensive line needs to continue to dominate.

You're absolutely right. What I should have said is that Kelly having "the playbook" will not be enough to stop Tech's offensive. I should have said that I think a lack of discipine will be enough for FSU to stop itself.

You might be able to convince me that Wommack had a good idea of how to stop us and the opportunity to practice for it since he had extra time to practice for the bowl game. Kelly might have a better idea than many, but 3 days is a short amount of time to prepare.

Honestly, this is a pretty fair take from an opposing fan and probably accurate. This will come down to whether or not our OL can continue to road grade good defensive lines.
