Flagrant 2 on Ndongo

I have always kinda reveled in my outrage over dirty play in basketball, whether looking down at Christian Laettner's gut kick, Chris Paul's nut shots, the other Duke player (Gray?) who would compulsively trip opponents who beat him, etc. To me, that is not what competitive athletics is about.

So, Ndongo's foul is a real embarrassment to me. Even above the team's historically bad play against SMU. I want GT to be looked at as a tough program but not a dirty one.

Would you discipline Ndongo at all for that?

I definitely would in practice. He'd be running until his guts were on the floor.

Is there a video of the foul? I wasn't able to watch the game and can't find any video of it

I only saw it once, so I could be wrong, but to those who saw it—did it look intentional to you? I wasn’t so sure. It looked like he was fighting for position against a bigger guy and he was trying to get low and under him to push him off. Yeah, he was throwing elbows, but it wasn’t obvious to me that he was aiming for anything. I was surprised at the call. Anybody else see it? What was your take?

I cannot speak to Ndongo's intent, but he & the big Turk had been leaning on one another and fighting for position for a while. Ndongo was at a huge disadvantage size-wise. Yigitoglu outweighs him by 50 pounds and has a 5 inch height advantage. Ndongo was spreading his arms wide and had a very wide stance while leaning on Yigitoglu trying to deny him the ball. I saw it all happen and I doubt Baye's elbow made contact with any sensitive area. Yigitoglu was not hurt and showed none of the reactions I would have had after being elbowed in the nuts. II think there was a bit of theater on the part of the Turk. And not likely to win an Oscar..

I believe it was a common foul and Ndongo should have been given a warning by the official that he was getting too aggressive in a dangerous manner. No one was injured and the physical play was going both ways.

I didn't see the play. Glad it wasn't some cheap shot dook type play. I'd like to see us win, just not like the mutts and dook do. I don't think anyone on here wants GT to have a dirty program like that.
