I’m excited about the CFP. We have 4 very important college football games this weekend. We haven’t had 4 important/impactful college football games in any year since before the BCS era began (1998). This will be followed by another 4 important college football games on Jan 1. That’s 8 games prior to the semis and championship game. It’s awesome.

I know what you're saying, and they'll be fun to watch, but for me the only important game is the one at 3:30 on December 27.

Totally agree.
I will probably watch some CFP games but I don’t see any of them as being appointment viewing.
I noticed that the ONLY bowls on NYD this year are CFP. On one hand I think that sucks. They have created a captive audience and pretty much forced us all to watch CFP games. Yay ratings! On the other hand, most bowls outside of the CFP are gonna be garbage now, I’m afraid. Between player opt outs and all of the fanfare going to CFP, I don’t think there will be many compelling matchups.

This is what deregulated football has come to. The more mercenary it gets, the uglier it gets with each passing season. I don't blame the players - I blame the system (or lack thereof) they operate in.
But I digress. Sigh...
