Ok, I'll play the part of "that guy".

"Oh, now that ESPN says something positive about us we like them? C'mon be consistent guys"

STFU kg01!

Ok, carry-on.

But the growing sentiment is the Seminoles are no match for Alabama, which gave up 630 yards against Auburn on Saturday but was praised for its plucky resilience and ability to ... wait for it ... come back and win in the fourth quarter.

Excellent!!!

If only the west coast Bo Wallace didn’t blow it we could’ve talked about how that tougher Pac12 South division champion beat UVA, Memphis, and Texas (the only 3 OOC opponents) all by one score or less.

I don't think it's that we (at least me) like ESPN because of one good article. I do think giving credit for the people who break the mold is a good thing, and a shift in narrative is refreshing.

Oh, I'm with you and agree with what you've said. Just wanted to steal some folks' contrarian thunder. ;)

"Florida State has won more than its fair share of close games in the fourth quarter this season, both inside and outside ACC play. But the growing sentiment is the Seminoles are no match for Alabama, which gave up 630 yards against Auburn on Saturday but was praised for its plucky resilience and ability to ... wait for it ... come back and win in the fourth quarter. This !

And think about Mizzou. Before Mizzou came into the SEC, the SEC nation laughed at it. Same for Texas A&M. Then, once they're in the SEC, they're world beaters. Mizzou has owned the SEC East. Gimme a break.

No conference has been more overrated and done less with more than the SEC.

New article by ESPN's Ivan Maisel - It's clear: SEC no longer exceptional

It's been fun, SEC, really fun -- seven consecutive national championships, your own network, the undying enmity of the rest of the country. Really, it's been great. But as you limp into the SEC championship game on Saturday, with No. 1 Alabama playing -- ta-da! -- No. 17 Missouri, I think it's time to sit down and have a little talk.

We still like you. You still put on a great show every week. What the Iron Bowl lacked in, oh, I don't know, defense on Saturday night, it more than made up for in the pageantry and emotion that only a great college football rivalry can produce.

But let's be honest. You're not what you have been. You're not all that. You're not even all that good.

Great article. Also, nice knowing ya Ivan as this was clearly a farewell piece ... right?

I agree. That Alabama team from 2009 and 2011 were 2 of the best teams I’ve ever seen play. Dominating Offensive and Defensive Lines, Punishing DB’s and LB’s, Powerful and fast RB’s, Game Managing QB’s who can make a play when needed. Watching this Alabama team play, they’re only a fraction of that. Their lines aren’t great outside of a freak of nature at LT. Yeldon is weak and fumbles too much. Their D-Line isn’t blowing anyone off the ball. Outside of Amari Cooper who should be the Heisman winner IMO, they aren’t extremely good. Amari Cooper is solely responsible for winning at least 3 of their games and if they manage to win the National Championship, he’ll be the reason why.

Narratives change. Talking heads have little real football knowledge so base narratives on wins n losses. ACC keeps winning and the narrative will continue to follow. Crossing fingers for Mizzu and a SEC bowl meltdown.
