I think we’re going to have a very high ceiling/low floor squad this year. There’s a lot of high-level talent on the team, but a lot of that talent is young and/or unproven.
Obviously it’s going to come down to pitching. Who stays healthy, who rises up, who can be consistent. Drew Burress is expected to be one of the best players in the nation, and I think we’ll have a typical Danny Hall team that bashes but also is prone to get bashed. I expect a fairly significant improvement out of the pitching staff. Matt Taylor has been around the game for a while, and this being his 2nd year in the system I believe he’ll make a positive impact in the pitching staff this year. But it’s no guarantee. Not many effective innings were thrown last year by the guys available this year. Going to need a lot of those young guys to step up and put up zeroes to be anything better than mediocre.
