What I liked was the fact that we came out in a zone defense. The fact that Nell recognizes that this current collection of talent plays some better than man to man and she is not too stubborn to make the switch is refreshing. Earlier this season we had a tendency to give up too many easy baskets on dribble drive penetration. This was particularly evident in the Mississippi State game. The switch to the zone saved that game for us and has proven to be very beneficial since then. We appear to have a team of young women with very high basketball IQ's that translates well to a zone defense getting us numerous steals and deflections. For whatever reason we just seem to move our feet better in the zone than the man to man. The real test, however, will be how we can rebound against the taller teams coming up on our schedule. Working for uses the fact that two of our guards (Dunn and Morgan) are among our best rebounders.
