The “nerd conference” was intended to be a joke. What isn’t a joke is that a lot of teams on that list stand to become irrelevant if they don’t get picked up by a relevant conference. While the ACC appears to be sitting on their hands right now, the B1G and SEC are taking control of the future...

I must admit that my enthusiasm bounced back with fantasies of getting picked up by the B1G but I was quickly brought back down to earth when I read about the $96 million buyout. It would be a nice change to play some of the B1G schools and create some new rivalries. We need help.

Travel would be tough on the teams, IMO. The Falcons were in the NFC West at one point and I always felt that the traveling hurt them.

We are about to get left out in the cold. We might have to start a nerd conference for schools with higher academic requirements (Vandy, Duke, Wake, etc.).

Unwarranted was the key word. I wasn’t knocking rooting for the team or being hopeful for the team. There are a few on here who can’t find anything to be hopeful about and some on here that do just the opposite. Reality is somewhere in between.

If they do, they’re not fans. The real deal though is that people that appear this way have lost all hope and believe that more losing will eventually lead to positive change. In other words, you have to crack some eggs to make an omelet.
