The biggest mistake early was not picking a QB. I get the the TO against Clemson choice. But it never seemed like we had a core set of plays that we ran well. More like a bunch of different plays no one really knew how to run. Boston college rode Zone dive left and Zone dive right to 6 wins one...
Somewhat true, however WHen GT has been most successful we have ran some variation of option football. Now it hasn't always been from the wishbone (Dodd, Rodgers) Or the flex (johnson) but our best success has come from offenses that included it. Fridge ran a ton of option just out of multiple...
Well seasons over. Flush it. Squeeze some more juice. While i'd love to see a different OC we probably don't get one so next year better see some improvement.
I mean i'm not entirely sure we wouldn't have had a pretty ungodly rushing attack this year running the veer with TO at QB. But hell if they never stop zone left and zone right TO might have 1700 yards. It really be more like singlewing football lol.
We didn't recruit ol and dl last year for class balance reasons. You are forgetting the tragedy we suffered Steam. When johnson was recruiting he was rightfully expecting to have big B as the nose tackle in a 3-4. That would have opened up Owens and Glanton at ends You'd have had Curry and...
I agree. This was a 6 win team at least if we had an offensive identity and stuck to it and didn't try to go square peg round hole. Even if you want to run a spread open offense if you don't have the lineman for it you can't do that. What we did have the lineman for was a run blocking power run...
I hate to say this but i think it was due to three little letters that made it even harder to get those guys on campus. APR. You have to remember spread offenses weren't a big thing yet in 08 most people were still firing off the ball and hitting people and running out of the I or singleback...
In a Veer system. The a DL's swim and rip move is very similar to a tackles inside and outside release to get to a backer. Its why we often recruited DL to be tackles.
But the thing we usually lacked most in that era was consistenly having pass rushers. When we did we had good defenses (not great) 2013 was a pretty good defense marred by inconsistent offensive play. And that was basically because of Jerry for instance.
On thing that playing against CPJ's...
JT actually got better. in 2016 he was throwing into tighter windows because he had to. Smelter and Waller made the 2014 stats better but mechanically Jet made some next level throws in 2016 in the medium game he missed at times in 2014. In 2015 he was constantly under duress so hard to tell...
