  1. Georgia Tech vs Minnesota

As a follow up, friends of mine from grad school went to Washington, Michigan, Alabama, Arkansas, etc. for undergrad. Still root for Tech. Some may feel a pull to their undergrad school if they were playing each other, but I have been to Tech games with many of them. Don't discount ALL grad...
  2. Georgia Tech vs Minnesota

I would both agree and disagree with that. It depends on where they went to undergrad. I went to undergrad at a small D3 school in upstate NY, went to grad school at Tech, and now root for Tech sports exclusively on the D1 level. Have been a Tech baseball season ticket holder for a number of...
  3. Georgia Tech vs Minnesota

I live in Cincinnati, so would definitely go to the game except for the small detail that I'll be in North Carolina visiting family. But will definitely keep this list handy for the next time I have the opportunity to visit Detroit. Definitely have a lot of friends from Michigan.
  4. Collins should be sponsored by Waffle House

When I was a grad student at Tech, ate breakfast religiously at Waffle House on Sunday with friends of mine before going to the bars to watch NFL football. Great times. Couldn't repeat them today...
  5. Geoff Collins GT HC 7 year contract worth $$$??

I'm just a lowly engineer, not a business owner or business/hiring person, but I don't equate what CPJ was making after 22 years in head coaching with a 189-98 record with two NCAA-1AA championships to what CGC should make with 2 years of head coaching experience and an 11-5 overall record. In...
  6. Article Jackets head to Miami to take on St. John's

Well, not really an "away" game, as St. John's is a lot further from Miami than Tech is. But we all know that Tech fans travel well, so... If I had to put W's & L's down on our schedule before the season, I would have had L's against TN, NW, and St. Johns. So not really a surprise at this...
  7. GT should be ranked in the top 25

I don't see Tech's schedule as being worthy of a top 25 if we had 8 wins at this point. Wins vs. Alcorn St., Bowling Green, Louisville, VT, UNC, and Miami. Losses against USF, Pitt, Clemson, and Duke. In a typical season, perhaps that gets it done with wins vs LOU/UNC, VT, and MIA, but...
  8. 2019 Schedule Build

I'd be there, but I don't see that happening anytime soon.
  9. 2019 Schedule Build

I agree with Fred. I have a spreadsheet trying to project future opponents, and that is what my 2019 looked like based on past trends. Although those trends are short term based on Maryland being in conference in 2014, so the ACC can change them to meet UNC, Duke, Wake, or NCSU's needs...
  10. Blue. Pants.

I don't care what we wear. As long as our SA's are comfortable and we WIN. I'm all for tradition, but as an engineer, I definitely have no fashion sense.
  11. Fall Ball

I'm hoping that Wilhite, Waddell, and Serratos will shore up the middle of the infield and third base. If I'm not mistaken, Austin was a 2B in high school, so I can see him moving back there this year. I believe Waddell and Serratos were both SS in high school. From what I recall, Serratos...
  12. Fall Ball

Thanks for getting me fired up for college baseball in September. Only 146 days left according to beesball.com!
  13. Summer Baseball assignments

Not comfortable with this news from the article: Xzavion Curry * , Harwich Mariners – 0-1, 10.60 ERA, 3 GP, 3 GS, 9.1 IP, 7 SO *no longer with the team Hoping it's just fatigue from last year and giving him time to recover for next year. But it's GT baseball, so...
  14. 2018 Draft & 2019 Team

From what I have read, I would agree that Simmons is gone and Bartnicki will be on campus. Saw a slightly different video about Simmons on Tech Baseball's twitter page where he talks about Jimmy Rollins inspiring him to become a shortstop and imagining himself in a Phillies uniform as a dream...
  15. UGA at Suntrust (3rd of 3)

So would I, but you asked for logic.
  16. UGA at Suntrust (3rd of 3)

Logic: Chase has been known to beat out bunts for hits as a part of his ACC leading average. English leads our team in RBI, so even if Chase doesn't beat it out, we have a shot to score multiple runs with the lineup we have. They didn't get it done. Which has become a theme lately.
  17. UGA at Suntrust (3rd of 3)

Ok, so the best hitter in the ACC SAC bunts men to second and third. Who's up next? English, who is leading the ACC in RBI's, according to the stats that I just looked at on the ACC website with 50. Who's up later that inning with the bases loaded? Serratos, who was #7 in the ACC in hitting...
  18. NewRule Determined Outcome of Saturday Game

Long time Tech Baseball fan, first time poster. Last time I've seen what happened last night was Robin Ventura's Grand Slam Single in the 1999 playoffs. Link below, for those Braves fans brave enough to watch it. Turned out to be a 1 run single.
