  1. Jahmyr Gibbs 2021-22 stat predictions

I doubt he’s returning many kickoffs this year. Maybe in special spots, but can’t imagine Collins using him much here this year. He’s going to be the guy.
  2. Learning from mistakes, Georgia Tech’s Jeff Sims ‘going to be great’

Our defense (or lack there of) might have had something to do with this. What were the scores in those games he threw 25+ times? My guess is we were down big in most, if not all of them. 11 of his INTs were in games our defense gave up 30+ points. Now his picks could’ve and did contribute to...
  3. Expectations for the 2021 season

Yup. It’s our own that do more harm than any other school could. Tech grads love to talk about how hard it is and how there’s no way a big dumb athlete could do it. They may not word it that way, but that’s how it comes off.
  4. Expectations for the 2021 season

Yes your 3 backwoods coaches you referenced earlier. I’m sure they know more about GT athletics and academics than someone who participated in them. And I couldn’t care less what happened over half a century ago. A lot has changed since then. The school isn’t as hard as you’re making it. I know...
  5. Expectations for the 2021 season

Yes, the guy who actually was a SA is ill informed on what it takes to get into and out of GT. It might not be 90% but it’s closer to that than 25% I can assure you. We will never be Bama, but we can definitely recruit in the top 15-25 on a consistent basis with the right people running the...
  6. Expectations for the 2021 season

You can say it as much as you want, that doesn’t make it true. There may be a small percentage of kids (5-10%) we can’t recruit. The rest is open game. And almost all athletes take Survey of Calc and Finite. Just because kids didn’t want to come here previously, doesn’t mean it’s not possible.
  7. CGC on Marty Smith's America the Podcast

You’re right. I thought we had one more besides Gardner Webb.
  8. CGC on Marty Smith's America the Podcast

How is predicting we make a bowl game before Covid hit a bold prediction. We had 2 gimme games plus Duke. Then we just needed to win 3 more out of the 9. This was also assuming our true freshman QB and young team would’ve had all Spring, Summer, and Fall to prepare for the season. If he said...

This back and forth doesn’t need to continue. Seems like a we are arguing over different things anyways. The above is somewhat what I’m getting at. More to the point if there are other students that get “free” education. Either through academic or other means. Those students have no...
  10. CGC on Marty Smith's America the Podcast

Turns out he was right. Could’ve played 2 more games in December if we had a healthy QB at the end of the year or at least half our DL.
  11. CGC on Marty Smith's America the Podcast

So if he didn’t know Covid was coming to alter the requirements, do you think he knew that Covid would cancel the rest of Soring practice, all summer workouts, and alter how they would practice in the Fall? Did he also know that the schedule would change completely? You think any of that may...
  12. CGC on Marty Smith's America the Podcast

Well I’m pretty sure we could’ve actually gone to a bowl game if we’d wanted to last year so he wasn’t that far off. If We weren’t so banged up, at the end of the year, I bet we would’ve gone bowling.

Agree. I was blessed to have a selfless grandma and mom show me what it looks like. I’d be lying if I don’t struggle with this, but having it modeled to me growing up makes it much more likely for me to have a chance.

Please explain how the athletes didn’t earn their scholarship. You also changed your argument from free education to exposure. Interesting. Can one only pay with currency? Is there no other way to earn something. Did you pay your wife to marry her? Or did you EARN her trust, treat her well...

This is a solid argument. I don’t think fandom would disappear, I do think it would take a hit if something legit were to surface. There’s not much point in arguing this point though because it’s never going to change. At least not anytime soon. Money is too good for the ones pulling the strings.

America. Maybe not worldwide. Don’t want to get into a philosophical debate, but we’re all hardwired to look out for ourselves first. There are genuine good people in this world and my number might be a little high. But it takes effort and a lot of help to be selfless. It’s not natural. If it...

You still seem to be struggling with the word free. How do you earn something that is free? That’s not how free works. This is America. 95% of the population is greedy. This does nothing to improve your argument. And again, the vast majority of the athletes that could actually make money don’t...
  18. GT Player Deals

If both of these are true, can you please explain why the numbers on jerseys made available for fans to purchase almost always coincide with the best players on each team? Also, why do we still talk about Calvin, Bay Bay, Joe Hamilton, heck even a kicker in But? The players are what make...

So you’re telling me if they were to set up a minor league for the NFL and the best players went and played there, got paid, and spent all their time prepping for the NFL people would continue to watch Div 2/3 talent at these schools? ESPN and the likes would continue to shell out big time tv...
  20. GT Player Deals

No they’re not employees. Who pays for the scholarships of non athletes? How is that different? Why are they allowed to monetize themselves? And you know how many of these athletes actually care about their “free” education? A lot less than you would like to imagine. It’s a cherry on top to...
