NIL, Transfers, and Stratospheric Salaries. What Is the Future of GT Football and College Football in General?

You are right, and I agree it doesn’t completely solve things. Even before free transfers kids were willing to transfer and lose a year (or redshirt), so I am not sure anything would completely stop the situation you are referring to. It’s just going to be about recruiting people that fit your...

NIL, Transfers, and Stratospheric Salaries. What Is the Future of GT Football and College Football in General?

Just make incoming transfers count against incoming scholarships limits. I think that will help some. Teams have no penalty to sign 25 and accept 10-15 transfer as long as they run off/graduate enough. Make teams choose what to focus on.

    I am pretty sure it’s bottom 5 P5 contract.

Agreed. The assistant pool is where it’s at. Wonder what OC is about to hit a pay day.

I don't think only allowing Tech graduates to be a part of the alumni association is snobbery. I do believe including families is more inclusive, and I don't see the harm. I wasn’t meaning to imply the alumni association is snobbish, but the professor. I do think the alumni association could do...

At Penn St, the parents of the student get invited to be a part of the alumni (a lot of times they pay for it after all). They make a big deal about being a part of the family, even if you only supported someone through it. Tech is not the same. My dad was at a GT function that was benefitting...

Broken clock is right twice a day? Key has a lot of work ahead of him. I assume a lot of things will be fixed by the team finally having a head football coach.

It’s not just average punt. We were the 131st out of 131 teams in net punting average at 30.7. That isn’t all on the kicker, but he didn’t help out his coverage men much either with high kicks.

    HC Candidate/Rumors/Info Thread

It’s not like he’s leaving Ohio State. Purdue is a third tier team that is lucky to be in the B1G west. Add in the fact that he is getting close to a 2Mil raise and it’s not hard to understand why he’d want to leave (plus the AD for Purdue is Bobinski, who would want to work for him).

After dealing with Collins and Patenaude as long as he did, he has earned the right to go out and have success. Hope he can find a way to keep his legs healthy.

Favorite uniform combo of the 2022 season?

Yes. This is why Nike was the better choice imo, not that we really had any bargaining power. The Adidas deal was really bad in terms of cash, and hopefully Batt can get us something better in 2024.

POLL: How do you feel about Key as HFC?

Year three is when I would have the solid expectation (barring injuries or unforeseen issues) of a bowl game. I think we could certainly out perform those expectations, but I'm not going to be calling for Key's head unless we go back to looking inept like we did under Collins (I don't think this...

    Brent Key Introductory Press Conference

My guess, it was more symbolic. From the sound of it, we were going to hit it. I’m sure Key was going to donate anyways, and it definitely sounds good that he asked to meet the target. The man sounds to be doing everything right so far.

POLL: How do you feel about Key as HFC?

I am cheering for Key because we cannot afford more years of being bad. With the landscape of football changing, we dug a hole at the worst time. Key is up to the challenge and is at least going to take it head on. I’m glad people are excited by his press conferences, but as has been mentioned...

POLL: How do you feel about Key as HFC?

We are in the thread “how do you feel about the hire”. I haven’t seen him stinking up other threads complaining about Key (maybe I missed it), so I’m not sure what the issue with him doing it here is.

    Johnson v. NCAA

I don't understand this. The players in college are not protected by the NFLPA. How can the age limit be set by people not represented? I'm not a lawyer, so this makes no sense to me.
