This is pretty much how I see it but Virginia Tech is in so much turmoil, UVA is up and down, Pitt is beatable on a good day so I can understand people riled up at the 5 wins as a best case scenario. That said, I am holding to a season prediction of 4 wins. It is outrageous that Clemson does...
Well, no better time than the first week. If we can't beat a bottom dwelling MAC team like Northern Illinois, like a drum then said beatdown may have to wait a while.
Win more than three or four games then it might mean something. As for "Grandma Talent" that was all the rage among Florida fans when Ron Zook recruited great classes and proceeded to get waxed by Ole Miss and Mississippi State. Talent alone will not get the job done.
I don't know. Four wins seems about right to me, at least that was my preseason prediction. I think we can beat Duke, Northern Illinois, and Kennesaw State and lose the rest of them. More than happy to be proven wrong. Proof is in the pudding.
You should know by now that Tech does not operate that way. For one thing, we cannot afford to go coach shopping and for another the fan base just is not that aggressive or even demanding to start with. If Collins won just 2 games it would not matter except that he might find recruiting to be...
I don't know. Bill Battle woke up one morning after losing to Alabama...again and saw a moving van parked outside. Alabama fans were not quite so clever with Ray Perkins he had a rock chucked through his office window. The worst any Tech coach had to endure was probably Chan's public service...
You are probably right but to ask this team which has won 3 games each of the past two seasons to magically triple the win total is a bit much. I think 6 wins a bowl invitation is a realistic goal to shoot for but fully expect us to win about 4.
I love your optimism...unfortunately, I do not share it but willing to be convinced by what I see on the field. So persuade me, I am gullible. As you posted, "The rest are very winnable" They are also loseable sic.
I think we will win four. I do not think we will be competitive in the Coastal. It is up for grabs between UNC, Miami, and who knows who the dark horse will turn out to be.
Buy low, sell high? The way the market is now, going to the craps table may be your best bet. My portfolio has gained over $56,000 since January...alas, I lost $100,000 last March in the meltdown. So, don't ask me for financial advice.
I am not an economist... that is a definite plus. President Truman was once asked by a reporter what he wanted for Christmas. Replied the President: "A one handed economist" "Why is that?" asked the confused reporter. "Because all the ones I have now, keep saying "On the other hand..."
Does she read this forum? If she does, you might be shelling out for more takeout in the future. Still pretty funny. If Tech wins, it will turn her hamburger into a New York Strip.
Bowl games are often about who wants to be there. When Tech played mighty USC a few years ago in El Paso, the Trojans made no bones about it. They felt "disrespected" to be invited to the lowly Sun Bowl and were going to use the game to showcase their talents to the NFL. Some talent, Orwin...
On a similar site about draft picks. Did you know that it has been 10 years since Tech last had a first round pick and that in the last 20 years, Tech has had only 3 first round draft picks? I am surprised we have done as well as we have viewed through that prism.
Well, you know what the "Head Ball Coach" himself used to say about UGA... "I don't know what happens to them. Georgia has all these great recruiting classes..." with the usual Steve Spurrier trademark smirk.
