  1. Time to break in a new uniform thread - 2022 edition

Good catch! I remember watching the Sun Bowl in 1965 on television and Georgia Tech was in the white jerseys with the gold pants and white helmets. Tech was playing Texas Tech who featured Heisman Trophy winner Donnie Anderson but it was Lenny Snow who put on the show that day in a memorable...
  2. Time to break in a new uniform thread - 2022 edition

Yep. All during the 1950s and early 1960s, Tech wore plain gold helmets with white jerseys, black trim and gold pants. About 1966, Tech started wearing white helmets with white jerseys and gold pants. Don't know the particulars but it was a bit before my time.
  3. Time to break in a new uniform thread - 2022 edition

I don't think he had a choice but when Dodd took over in 1945 (?) One of the first things he did was get rid of the mustard jerseys and put Tech in blue and gold very similar to what Derrick is modeling along with what became the traditional white jerseys at home. Seems back then, home team...
  4. Time to break in a new uniform thread - 2022 edition

Damn Monroe, don't you know the difference between navy blue and black? Nah, these are not the black watch, maybe the blue watch. Pretty though, I will give them that.
  5. Here's a thought

We will never know. A teammate of Ruth on that team was an outstanding player in his own right until sadly, his career was cut short by injury. Ping Bodie was Ruth's roommate on away games. A reporter, looking for the human interest angle, I suppose asked Ping: "Ping, tell me, just what...
  6. 2022 GT Football News Thread

Great post. The only caveat is that even though Nebraska was ranked 19th, and we were #2, they were a slight favorite. A friend of mine had relatives in Orlando and we stayed with them and went to the game. The morning of the game we found a public tennis court, played tennis and walked to...
  7. Here's a thought

They were not known as "Murderer's Row" for nothing.
  8. Here's a thought

Like I said...I have an acute case of "sometimers" Sometimes I remember and sometimes I don't.
  9. Here's a thought

Upon further review and correcting for increasingly frequent senior moments it would seem that we have had a number of games that we either won or played well enough to win. This is, of course subjective but I am drawing upon an ever decreasing number of brain cells here From 2019 We played...
  10. Here's a thought

Sometimes, like against UNC and Clemson last year. Miami last year and the year before, I think.
  11. Here's a thought

I predicted 4 wins but 3 seems likely enough based on the win totals of the last three years.
  12. Here's a thought

Hell, just for kicks let them swap roles. Let Coach Thacker be the game day coach and Coach Collins can be the defensive coordinator. Can't hurt.
  13. Here's a thought

Yep. The literary term is a "Faustian bargain" I think. I still believe that if Geoff would just tone down the antics and concentrate on what he does best...getting the defense ready to play lights out, he just might pull this thing out. IIWII
  14. Here's a thought

"...again, Collins being a bad coach..." Nothing else is more relevant. This program is looking at a possible lost decade with negative repercussions long after he is gone. Not that he is worried with millions already banked. IIWII
  15. Undrafted Player Deals

Point taken and acknowledged. I don't care that much about the NFL, don't watch it, and have no interest in it. As for Coach Collins, my fear is that if this train is not turned around this year, then we will be staring at a strong possibility of a "lost decade" similar to what both Tennessee...
  16. Undrafted Player Deals

"...stronger arguments"? Three consecutive three win seasons with humiliating losses to FCS schools and historic blowouts to rivals is about all the argument that needs to be made concerning whether or not TStan was suckered into making a bad bet. Coach Collins needs to perform the coaching...
  17. Power Conference HC rankings

The only "ups" in the Collins era that I can recall were beating Miami and UNC. The close call with Clemson was definitely an "up". The "downs" are so frequent as to become ordinary and expected.
  18. Top 20 All Time ACC QBs

The only time I saw Kaaya play against Tech I was not that impressed but then the same can be said for Taylor as well. The two guys that really took us apart when I was actually in attendance were Wilson and Matt Ryan. This is only based upon games I was watching which is naturally subjective...
  19. Here's a thought

That is true but Coach Alexander had a national championship year in 1928 which gave him a lot of leeway. That said, the 1930s were not a good time on the Flats.
  20. Well, at least we are not DOOK.......yet

Let me think a moment...NO. If we are honest with ourselves, Georgia Tech is about as irrelevant on the national scene as Duke, Vanderbilt, and Tulane. It has come to that. The last home game against Georgia in a sea of red speaks volumes, just as Vanderbilt has faced with Tennessee for...
