Found this video at ESPN:

CPJ is explaining the triple option, and I think they spliced in videos of midline options for B-Back and QB.

Key word is opinion.

I agree that it's an opinion. I'm pretty sure that opposing defenses would be extremely happy holding a TO team to 119 yards rushing. I also believe that 9 out 0f 10 times we lose when we rush for 119 yards. Our O sucked that day and we were lucky to win it. Make no mistake about it....BC shut our O down that day. Lucky for us they turned the ball over twice. Sometimes though,I'd rather be lucky than good.

I always wonder why Fridge wasn't more successful at Maryland. He did great his first 3 years and then nothing. Perhaps he couldn't recruit?
He had a reputation of not recruiting. He came into a poorly coached but loaded team his first year, then struggled to refill the cupboard.
His predecessor had a rep of recruiting but not being a gameday coach, but apparently he was mainly a recruiter.

It was always my opinion that his offenses never really worked up there. I distinctly remember him saying that he was hiring an OC and letting him run the offense. His job was to manage the team and be the head coach. I always thought that was a mistake.

...... However, ANYONE who now claims GT football was more successful overall under CCG vs. CPJ either wasn't following GT then or has an anti-CPJ agenda.

CCG was as successful as CPJ. By several objective metrics. Sorry. 112 Years of GT Football - How Bad Were We Last Year?

CPJ is not the messiah, but I like him a lot and hope he stays till he wants to retire. His personality fits GT just fine. And before everyone bitches about it being harder for us to recruit now, all the other middling teams have similar problems. It's just that our kids are better people since they go to GT and put up with what they do.

Well, I respectfully disagree. I'll take the two 11 win seasons and the 9 win season over the CCG Equilibrium any day. And like I said, I think CCG was a man with great character. I've just enjoyed the last 8 years, on the whole, more than I enjoyed the 8 previous.

It's not the coach's job to keep players graduating, thats simply not his duty. I know that doesn't sit well with a lot of people cause that doesn't fit the narrative. He's here to coach the football team, and he's done a damn fine job of that imo. The rest is just pieces falling in line.

Come on AE, use your head. Maybe go back and actually read those articles. The fine print is there, no doubt. Technically, they get a pat on the back if kids graduate. In the grand scheme of things though, just use common sense and you should see through.

When the NFL releases an article about how much they care about player safety and not actual profits, you shouldn't take it to heart.

Same with grad rates.

Put me in the column of folks who thinks the GT brass DOES care about grad rates and student athlete academic success. I was there and saw it first hand. I'm getting old, but GT hasn't changed. Would CPJ be in hot water if we stopped winning football games? Absolutely. Would his grad rates be enough to save him in that situation? Probably not. I guarantee you that it is looked upon as part of his job and it was one of the major reasons he was hired.

For sure gt cares about grad rates. I would argue when you say gt hasnt changed that in fact its gotten worse.

Admissions for football are harder than under GOL. Grad rates are a focus due to apr and the school now uses apr as a reason to tighten admissions even though that correlation is overdoing it.

Look in our society today everything is lining to a more socialist approach. The school doesnt trust the AA to do its job so it puts in admissions regulation. Rather than saying, hey you can recruit who you want to, but if u miss in apr and have too many fail outs its your job. Instead they provide a standard and handcuffs and say good luck, we dont trust you we know better than you so here is your regulation. I think its dumb. CPJ makes more money than anyone on that campus by a wide margin. Hold him accountable but let him do the job unrestricted. If he draws the line somewhere fine, its his call. No one knows the recruits better than that staff. They know if the kid has a chance at succeeding.

Not any different than the federal government expansion of regulation, rules and the we know better than you how to do your job or life.

Its bad imo. We need to move back to the model of people need to be able to do their jobs with consequences etc

They have a poor offense and we scrambled around beating them on last play. While not a 2016 first half clemson TOTAL SHUTDOWN , the bc game is only acceptable because game 1 against a very good front 7.

The BC game was the season opener played in a foreign country. It's really hard to take anything from that game other than the win. I'll always take the win.
