GT Volleyball is ranked #18 preseason after winning their final 7 matches in the Fall. 2004 was the last preseason ranking.

Cubaj has 13 double-doubles in her career.
Love had 12, Fletcher 13 and Lotta led w/15 pts.

Down by 9 in the opening period, by the middle of the third, a 50-32 lead.
Good 67-55 victory for a fifth victory.

Yea, the women's basketball team started out yesterday at Clemson down something like 12-3 or 14-3. Only had like 3 points through the first several minutes. But over the next half hour, they went on a 50-20 run. That's some *** beating smack down right there.

WBB with a win over VT today! VT is sitting around 50th in RPI and ESPN has them in the Last Four Out so not a pushover by any means. (VT's last game was a 4-point loss to #2 Louisville.) Tech was down almost all game, but rallied in the fourth to eke out a close win, thanks to clutch free throws by Lorela Cubaj.

A win against VT means GT now has 5 wins against teams in the RPI top-64: Notre Dame, Clemson, Boston College, Tulane and Virginia Tech. (All of this is without top 2020 recruit Anaya Boyd, who's been out with some undisclosed injury!) What Coach Fortner has done with this team is nothing short of incredible. I really thought they were doomed for a few years in the basement after Joseph was fired and Dixon/Balogun left.

I heard Boyd's name a few times today. Box Score indicates she played about 5 minutes today. Hope she keep progressing from here. Frustrating that we were 1/14 from the field in the second quarter for a 7% shooting pct. Need to not do that. But great win, and keep building on this one.

Women couldn’t hit the broadside of a barn for most of today. It happens - they never gave up and scored 23 of their 56 points in the 4th quarter.

WBB absolutely DOMINATES Wake Forest, 73-44. WF came into this game comfortably averaging 70 points a game and were absolutely shut down. For most of the game, WF honestly didn't look like they belonged on the court with us; had no answers to Cubaj inside on offense or defense.

Worth noting that Wake isn't a total pushover; they were ranked in the low 40s in RPI and had some conference wins.

The energy is incredible with this team. Players were taking charges and diving after loose balls deep into the fourth quarter despite the game being over midway through the third. Credit the players and credit Nell. This is a special group.

The numbers I wrote down while we were playing from Warren Nolan's site were:

RPI: Tech 17, Wake Forest 15
NET: Tech 29, Wake Forest 41

Tech should improve in both of those.

#1 ranked Louisville hit a shot with 9 seconds left today to beat Wake Forest by 2. Tech beat Wake earlier this week by 28. The Jackets beat FSU this afternoon by 8. The Jackets are NCAAT bound.
I think they’re between 25 and 30 in NET, so they aren’t a high seed right now, but they look to be going if they keep this up.

Richard said GT was #21 in NET during the broadcast.
Bates has a sprained ankle. Nell expects her back this season.

Well I still remember when our volleyball team went like 13-1 down the stretch, finished 2nd in the ACC, and didn’t make the NCAAT. Our only loss was against the top team, on the road, in 5 sets. Never underestimate the idiocy of selection committees.
