Got jumped in NET by Duke & Ole Miss. Duke won big at BC & OM destroyed Auburn on the road. Those away wins are valued greater than GT’s home win by NCCA’s rating methods. If GT beats Louisville on 1/12 we get a bigger jump. The 1/16 game v Notre Dame is the biggest test. Pull an upset in South Bend and GT could jump to a 3 or 2 seed.

Women's tournament plays the first weekend on the home courts of the top 4 seeds in each region. This would be awesome for Nell and the team if they can stay in that top 16.

It is not really a drop. We moved from a 4 seed to another 4 seed, but now we are playing in Atlanta.

How is that possible? Every 4 seed gets home court advantage in the first 2 rounds. Were we playing on the 5 seed's home court in the older version?

Based on where we are currently ranked, a #4 seed is correct. Winning games against unranked teams is slow path upward in the rankings. We need to beat ranked teams. We have some opportunities coming up (one very soon) and could really benefit from winning those games.

Women's Bracketology: Country's top seven teams, including 1-seed USC, are separating themselves

This week's games illustrated the unpredictability of conference play and the gap between the top seven teams in the country and everyone else.

Yesterday's update after the loss to Virginia Tech - the women have dropped to a 5 seed and would be traveling to Knoxville to take on FGCU and then likely Tennessee were they both to win the opening round.

Win 2 of 4 against ND, Duke, Cal, and NC State and don't lose to any non-NCAA tournament teams and they will easily be top 16 and host the first weekend.

An 11-3 finish puts them at 26-4 heading to the ACC Tournament. That would easily do it.

Any word on Carnegie's injury? Looked like a hamstring and those can linger.
