Will CJP and the allegations affect football recruiting?

Just as the title says. Do you think the sexual assault charge against CJP will spill over to bad publicity for the football team? Even Penn State had jabs at them in almost every sport. Schools that compete with us, with recruits, can and will sling mud. Thoughts?

Saying you don’t want to play football at a school because the basketball coach was accused of something not involving the football team is a good way to get your friends to call you a wuss. Nobody wants that in high school.

Would not think so and would hope to heaven that our football staff would be competent enough to overcome such nonsense.

My bigger concern as of now is if Peterson makes some preemptive move and suspends CJP.

Would not be the first time Peterson has spit on the constitutional rights of folks in the GT community to make himself look good to the left wingers

In case nobody is watching the news, reading the papers, tweeting, twittering or whatever else is going on, this business of sexual assault is big news and serious business, beginning in the White House and spreading like a water stain. Any mother or father can reasonably be expected to question a football recruiter. GT dismisses the claims at its peril because now some instances are alleged to have happened while the coach was in Tech's employ, meaning financial liability and public embarrassment. Pinching, fondling, grabbing, rubbing are not examples of flirting. They are sexual assaults. It is serious and should be treated as such. (And my suspicion is that a kid tough enough to get a football offer ain't all that concerned with what his so-called friends think. Certainly his mother won't be.)

Michigan state just had their third best class in the last 10 years. Look at the "what recruits think" article posted in apples and oranges post, Michigan state is #11, and they got a whole lot more than some alleged pinching, etc going on.

Well, Mark Dantonio is under some heat up here now and it’s brought to light from the Nassar situation. Izzo too. Both programs, especially football have had and covered up some sexy assault cases and its being investigated. Quite a few people close to the programs think something will be uncovered and it won’t be good. Izzo was basically told to stop commenting on it after games recently. The post game presser at Maryland was hard to watch.

That is what I meant, it has been public since 2016 and it seems to have had little effect. He was someone that had direct access to the players, and did horrible, unimaginable things, and yet, the recruiting results, at least so far, appear not to be impacted.

Nobody cares. Michigan State finished #11. North Carolina ran a fake university for decades and nobody cared. They continue to run top 5 basketball recruiting classes. Georgia has over 30 arrests in football and a 41% graduation rate and they finished #1. Nobody cares is a little too strong a statement, but honestly it’s pretty close to it.

Especially given that this guy has been in prison, lied about being a cancer victim to be close to Pastner, hasfalsely accused people of sexual assault before, and the NCAA was too scared of him to even travel out there - this is a nothing burger ultimately.

However, if other schools use that as an anti-Tech recruiting too (WHICH THEY MIGHT), then it COULD have an effect. Hopefully, this will all be settled in CJP's favor sooner rather than later.

its not like being accused of grabbing the a** of a known drug addict that is the gf of a known felon is even in the same universe as a KNOWN pedo ring in the football program. imo.
